Ghost Hunters Season 5 Preview: Ghosts of Old Glory
by Reg Seeton

After four seasons of paranormal investigations on the popular SCI FI series Ghost Hunters, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson return to the electro-magnetic TV airwaves on March 11 at 9pm for Season 5. Given the rich, revolutionary history within some of America's oldest homes, Jason, Grant, and the TAPS team of Amy, Kris, and ghost-techs Steve and Dave head to the ghost-fertile state of Pennsylvania in an attempt to expose the truth behind the unexplained happenings occurring in two paranormally significant locations. Once the TAPS team assembles for a new round of ghost hunting, the Season 5 premiere centers on reported paranormal activity taking place inside both the historic 1695-built Hunnum House in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania and the original home of Betsy Ross who sewed the fabrics to create the American flag (aka: Stars and Stripes, Old Glory).

The first half of the Ghost Hunters premiere focuses on the investigation of the 313-year old Hunnum House where Jason, Grant and the TAPS team learn the history of the house, which, over the years, used to be a courthouse, a brothel, and a tavern. The family currently living in the Hunnum House reports to have heard strange voices, been witness to shadowy Colonial figures throughout the rooms along with moving furniture, and have experienced a spook-load of bizarre activity in their daughter's bedroom. When the Ghost Hunters begin their investigation, with Jason, Grant, and Steve roaming the main floor and Kris and Amy in the attic for EVP (voice) recordings, it doesn't take long for TAPS to realize they're obviously not alone. After hours spent walking through the 18-room brick built home, the eerie high point of the Hunnum investigation comes when Jason and Grant step into the daughter's bedroom and the creepy K2 fun begins.

The second half of the Season 5 Ghost Hunters premiere heads to the historic yet tiny, space challenged home of Betsy Ross, which serves as a tourist attraction with an adjacent gift shop. Although it wouldn't be a surprise to encounter some form of paranormal activity snooping around the Ross house in the dark, spotting or hearing a ghost in the gift shop could leave you unexpectedly paralyzed with fear, especially if it was the voice or shadowy image of the shop's security guard. Interestingly, albeit bizarre on modern level, the investigation focuses on strange activity reported after an alleged incident in the basement of the gift shop as well as odd happenings in the Betsy Ross house. When the TAPS team sets out on their eight-hour spook chase, both Ross locations come alive in similar yet uniquely creepy ways as Jason and Grant try to get to the bottom of a sighting in the attic that sent one former director of the Betsy Ross house crawling out a window.

After a full TAPS analysis of both the Hunnum House and the Betsy Ross home, Jason and Grant make it out alive and kick off Season 5 of Ghost Hunters in fine paranormal fashion. For those who love digging into the history of some of America's oldest ghost-fertile locations, the return of Ghost Hunters gives viewers another eerily entertaining "visual imprint" of U.S. history filled with several modern-day, spirit-plagued percipients.

After a record-breaking fourth season that saw more viewers tune in to Ghost Hunters on a weekly basis than any other season, you could now call Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson the biggest rock stars in paranormal entertainment since both SCI FI spook chasers have built up a huge, loyal fan base of ghost groupies. And with the Season 5 of Ghost Hunters now on our TV doorstep, maybe a couple of ghosts will appear from the shadows and ask Jason and Grant for an autograph.
