Twilight Weekly Wrap: Twilight DVD, New Moon Begins, and More by Larson Hill
November can't come soon enough for fans of the Stephenie Meyer based Twilight saga when the sequel New Moon hits theaters. However, Twilight fans were thrown a huge bone this week to satisfy their Twilight hunger as Summit Entertainment released the Twilight movie on DVD at the stroke of midnight on Saturday, March 21. Leading up to the release of the Twilight DVD, the Twilight saga saw more breaking news this week in the way of thanks from stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, the start of shooting on New Moon, and Twilight thoughts from Catherine Hardwicke, Kristen Stewart, and My Chemical Romance.
Here's the latest Twilight Weekly Wrap for March 16 to March 22:
Twilight DVD Released
Twilight fans everywhere were dancing and partying in their homes and the streets while some waited in lines until midnight at various retailers as the Twilight DVD was released. Even Twilight stars Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Rachelle Lefevre made an appearance at Kitson on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood on Saturday to celebrate the limited edition release of Twilight on DVD. From the Twilight DVD exclusive at Borders to Hot Topic stores to cast thanks on the set of New Moon in Vancouver, the Twilight DVD is finally making its way into the hands of fans all across the country. Leading up to the Twilight DVD event, Kitson recently teamed with Awake, Inc to produce a new Twilight clothing line with graphics from the film.
On the Set with New Moon Cast Video
In advance of the Twilight DVD release and the many nation wide Twilight DVD parties, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Rachelle Lefevre, and Ashley Greene took to the camera on the set of New Moon in Vancouver to thank Twilight and New Moon fans everywhere now that the DVD has arrived. To check out the video, head this way to see the New Moon cast give thanks.
Shooting on New Moon Begins
Shooting for New Moon began on Friday, March 20 at Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island, one of British Columbia's most beautiful locations near the towns of Tofino and Uquelet. The cast and production set up camp on the Canadian surfer's paradise, Long Beach, which wrapped later that evening ahead of the originally slated production date of March 23. For a look at all of the New Moon shooting festivities, including Taylor Lautner and the New Moon cast posing for pics with fans, head to B.C.'s Westcoaster for all of the details for the first day of New Moon shooting.
Catherine Hardwicke Won't be Returning to Twilight Franchise
Earlier this week in an exclusive interview with MTV Twilight (and once sought after New Moon helmer) director Catherine Hardwicke revealed that she's moving on to other upcoming projects and that she feels it's healthier if other directors are brought in on each film in the Twilight saga. Also revealing that she's confident that New Moon is in good hands with director Chris Weitz, Hardwicke told MTV that she loved how the Harry Potter franchise was handled with different directors brought in to helm each picture.
A May Date for New Moon in Italy
With the production of New Moon underway in British Columbia, it's now being reported on Twilighters Italia that New Moon will soon arrive in Italy. Speaking to Twilighters Italia, town tourism reps of Montepulciano, Italy have it that New Moon will begin filming in Italy from May 25th until May 30th.
Catherine Hardwicke Joins Summit for "If I Stay"
After turning down the job to direct the Twilight sequel New Moon, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke got back onboard with Summit Entertainment this week to direct the upcoming child fantasy adaptation "If I Stay." Although Hardwicke opted out of directing New Moon, Summit president Erik Feig announced that Catherine Hardwicke was the first choice for the project post the real world Twilight saga between the director and the studio. "If I Stay" follows the life of a young musician involved in a car accident who must choose between life or death.
More New Moon Casting
After shooting began on New Moon in Pacific Rim National Park near Tofino British, Columbia, reports surfaced on the web that actors Tyson Houseman and Alex Meraz were seen on the set of New Moon in the roles of teen werewolves Paul and Quil.
Why My Chemical Romance Won't Be on the New Moon Soundtrack
The reasons why Twilight fans won't see a My Chemical Romance song on the New Moon soundtrack are simple. In an interview with MTV, My Chemical Romance band members admitted to the outlet that they haven't read any of the Twilight books, Twilight or New Moon, that they're selective about what movies their music appears in, they don't think MCR music fits the Twilight saga and New Moon, and how they don't believe they'd be into it. And if you're not into My Chemical Romance, then you know exactly what the guys are talking about.
Kristen Stewart Talks New Moon Cliff Dive and CGI
Fans dying to see a heartbroken Bella take a flying leap from the cliff in New Moon after Edward lets her down have been loudly vocal on the internet about the emotional New Moon scene. Although Kristen Stewart will almost take the significant flying Twilight leap from the cliff to mirror the state of Bella in the New Moon novel, Stewart will be stopping short at the edge. To start the week, Twilight and New Moon star Kristen Stewart spoke to MTV about the Bella cliff dive, revealing that she almost gets to jump but will be turning the leap over to the magic of a CG Bella. Stewart also revealed that she had already been to a scanning session where computers would determine the facial expression of Bella before the jump, which, as Kristen demonstrated to MTV, will be more of a Bella in thought as she makes the jump.

Well I have read all of the books. And if the same actors do not play in the next movie I will never read another Steph Meyer book again. They were great. I did think the cullens should have been more white, not pink in the movie. The book was better, they should have tried to put more of the book into the movie. I still loved it, not only teens are reading them. I am 30 and tons of my friends are reading the books and seeing the movies, it is a true love story. Who the hell is Heidi, why do I not remember her?

I agree with you Melissa. I'm 29 and i absolutely love all the books but I felt that this movie should had more scene from the book. I love the movie but the book was better and there were parts in the movie that didn't happen the way the book descriped. I also felt that Bella and Edward had a closer relation in the book than they did in the movie. I hope that for New Moon the producer sticks to the book more because that book had a lot of important events. I also don't know who Heidi is, good question.
