Twilight Weekly Wrap: New Moon Vampires, Awards, and Twilight Locations by Larson Hill
Twilight related news on both the sequel New Moon and the Twilight franchise at large is getting so increasingly challenging to wade through that it actually feels like you're climbing a Mt. Everest that doesn't have a peak. This past week of Twilight and New Moon stories saw a slew of headlines surrounding new New Moon casting developments, sneak peeks, more Twilight awards, the Twilight DVD in the UK, the drive for Robert Pattinson to host Saturday Night Live, and the Washington State Senate realizing they let Twilight go.
With Twilight and New Moon stories hitting the web by the second, here's a list of the past week in Twilight news and the stories we feel are worth noting in our Twilight Weekly Wrap:
Michael Sheen cast as Aro in New Moon
The most recent New Moon casting news came via the UK's Daily Mail, and backed up by Variety, when the Mail spoke to Twilight sequel director, Chris Weitz, who confirmed the casting of Underworld and Frost Nixon actor Michael Sheen in the role of Volturi leader Aro in New Moon. As reported, Sheen will reportedly take home a payday in the vicinity of £5million for playing Aro in New Moon. As confirmed to The Daily Mail, Weitz revealed that he was "aggressively" trying to bring Sheen into the New Moon fold.
Twilight at 2009 MTV Movie Awards
The nominees were announced for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards and Twilight is showing well. The Stephenie Meyer based Twilight gets MTV nods for Best Movie while Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson represent in the Best Female and Male Performance categories plus Breakthrough Performances Male and Female, and Best Kiss. Also topping the Twilight MTV noms is Taylor Launter who clocks in alongside Pattinson in the Best Breakthrough while Best Villain gets a nomination for Cam Gigandet and both Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet duke it out for Best Fight.
Vancouver's Tinsel Corey Joins New Moon Quileute
Through her MySpace page, Vancouver actress and musical talent Tinsel Corey revealed that she will be playing the young and motherly Emily Young, the Quileute love interest of werewolf Sam Uley, in the Twilight sequel New Moon. The recent MySpace New Moon announcement also revealed that newly cast Emily Young, Tinsel Corey " ... is very excited to be working with such a talented cast and brilliant director."
Sneak Peek at Jacob's Digs and Ride?
As the star of New Moon werewolf, Taylor Lautner, continues to rise on a daily basis given the heavier focus on Jacob Black in the Twilight sequel, www.newmoonmovie.org posted images of what may or may not be the house and car of Jacob Black in New Moon. Although no one knows for sure, the images reveal a boat, crab traps, a house and a black VW Rabbit that could very well be the VW Rabbit belonging to Jacob Black. If it does turn out to be the car of Jacob, it will likely be the first ever '80s beater of a VW Rabbit that will actually appreciate in value once New Moon wraps shooting in Vancouver.
Twilight DVD Sinks Teeth into UK
On Monday of last week, UK Twilight fans showed their solidarity with their North American Twilight counterparts as over 211,000 copies of the Twilight DVD were sold on its first day of UK release. That's roughly over 4.5 million Twilight quid.
Stephenie Meyer on Set of New Moon
Last Tuesday, fans got a glimpse of Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer when the New Moon production moved to David Thompson secondary school in Vancouver where both Meyer and Kristen Stewart were spotted on the New Moon set. As the Vancouver Sun reported, David Thompson secondary was revamped to serve as Forks High from the first Twilight movie.
Washington State and the Twilight Effect
The state of Washington, namely the Kalama area, is feeling the void left behind by Twilight, as the Seattlepi ("pi" meaning Post Intellincier) reported that the Washington State Senate gave the green light to a bill that would make the state more appealing to film and TV productions. According to the Twilight related report, the bill proposes to increase its funding percentage from 20% to 30% to help lure more movies to the state and is now awaiting a decision from state Governor, Chris Gregoire.
The Drive for Robert Pattinson on Saturday Night Live
Over the past couple of weeks, as reported by OK magazine, 5000 fans signed an online petition in an effort to get Twilight and New Moon star, Robert Pattinson, on to the 30 Rock stage as host of Saturday Night Live.
The Drive for Robert Pattinson on SNL Dies
Shortly after the online petition for Robert Pattinson to host Saturday Night Live began to pick up steam, SNL creator Lorne Michaels quickly put an end to the Twilight petition, saying his roster was full and Pattinson wouldn't be appearing on the longtime NBC sketch comedy series. Next time, Twilight fans, wait until there's more than enough signatures so Lorne can't say "no."
I cant wait for the twilight eclipse movie, twilight saga was great i love it. Taylor Lautner was superb in twilight saga.

I am so glad that Twilight is getting the nominations and the credit it deserves. The cast is unreal and New Moon is going to blow everyone out of the water too! What a great ensemble of talent. I cant help but look at them either so wanted to share all these create photos I found, enjoy twihards!!!
I think all of the movies will be great just like the first one was!!!!!!!!!!
