Season 4 Parental Guidance for 'Home Sweet Hollywood' with Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott by Troy Rogers
Most
TV viewers will never ever know what it's like
to be a parent trying to raise kids in Tinseltown
or Hollywood. Although L.A. and Hollywood present
a slew of unique parental challenges many don't
face in the mainstream Midwest or Eastern seaboard
of New England, the pressure of being a well known
celebrity couple can be an added hurdle when
trying to lead a normal family life. For Tori
Spelling and Dean McDermott who begin the fourth
season of Tori & Dean on Oxygen on May 26, life
in L.A. as a loving couple and parents to two
children is "Home Sweet Hollywood".
In the upcoming season of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, the former 90210 actress and her acting hubby are balancing the hectic schedule of TV appearances, a movie of the week, a TV pilot, a new book, and a slew of other challenges found inside the entertaining rat-race of Tinseltown.
With Oxygen rolling out the quad run of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, we ducked into high profile domestic life for a conference call to chat with Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott about whether parenting gets easier as you get older and if they're planning new additions to the family. Interestingly, don't be surprised if you see the cameras following Tori & Dean on vacation someday, too.
THE DEADBOLT: They say that being a
parent gets easier as you age. Have you found
that to be true?
TORI
SPELLING: Well, I’ve only really been a
parent now for two years. I’ve been a step-mom
for four years ...
DEAN MCDERMONTT: I’d say, yes and no.
SPELLING: [laughs] You would know more about that than I would.
MCDERMONTT: I would say, yes and no. You know, with age comes wisdom. But at the same time every child is different. So each child brings unique challenges. So yeah, you do learn more as you get older. But you know what the great thing about is? You keep learning.
SPELLING: I mean, it’s not more like you learn more as you get older, but I think you learn more because you experience more. Like every day is a hands-on manual. Basically you’re teaching yourself how to be a parent and go through it, you’re in the trenches. So each day you know more and more and you get more comfortable with it.
THE
DEADBOLT: Are there any plans for more pets?
MCDERMONTT: [laughs]
SPELLING: Maybe in the future. I work a lot with animal rescue so I know the importance of rescuing your pets. So definitely we would probably love to rescue more in the future.
THE DEADBOLT: You guys mentioned Fiji as a vacation spot. Would you ever be up for letting the cameras follow you guys on vacation?
MCDERMONTT: Yeah, because that’s another part of reality.
SPELLING: Yeah, definitely.
MCDERMONTT: It would be interesting
trying to vacation and relax with them running
...
SPELLING:
With the cameras running?
MCDERMONTT: With the kids running around.
SPELLING: Oh, well, yeah. I mean, we
take our kids on all of our vacations.
MCDERMONTT: I know, but I’m saying that
would be great. I think he just gave us an idea
for the show. Yeah, that would be great. I mean,
we do take them on vacation, but ...
SPELLING: Actually having the cameras ... Gotcha, gotcha!
