Twilight Weekly Wrap: New Moon Proposal, Taxi, Twitter, and Taylor
by Larson Hill

Now that the Twilight sequel New Moon has wrapped and stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene are off doing their own unique and individual things beyond The Twilight Saga, news surrounding the Stephenie Meyer based projects have turned to anything under the Twilight sun. But this week saw a flurry of Twilight and New Moon headlines mostly centered around the Twilight Saga actors, which were topped by news that Robert Pattinson had a run in with a New York City taxi after being swarmed by Twilight fans.

Here's a look at the stories that get major Twilight Saga related play in this week's edition of our Twilight Weekly Wrap:

Robert Pattinson Hit By Taxi in New York City

It wasn't quite the level of Twilight immortality that Robert Pattinson embodies in New Moon as the vampire Edward Cullen, but Twilight Saga star Pattinson had a brush with death after a taxi scare in New York City while filming "Remember Me". According to online Twilight reports and New Moon eyewitnesses, Robert Pattinson was swarmed by a flock of teen Twilight fans, which forced Pattinson into the street where Robert was grazed by a taxi cab that had slammed on its breaks in order to avoid, what the legions of crazed New Moon fans would have deemed, a Twilight Saga travesty.

A team of security guards attempted to pry the dazed Pattinson away from the clutches of his rabid Twilight fans, but it was Robert Pattinson alone who orchestrated his daring escape, taking Twilight matters into his own hands and hitting the streets of Manhattan to prevent from being rolled over from not only a taxi cab but also screaming New Moon fans.

After avoiding serious taxi related injury, Robert Pattinson walked away shaken but unscathed. As for the reality of the Robert Pattinson taxi scare, Summit Entertainment also told UsWeekly.com, 'Rob Pattinson is fine. The reports are exaggerated, and it was not caused by fans.'

Peter Facinelli and the Twitter Race

Although this isn't quite direct Twilight or New Moon news, it's a story that we find hilarious on a deep psychological level. For actors on movie sets, sometimes boredom leads to friendly competition. In the most recent case it's Peter Facinelli who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in Twilight and New Moon who kicked off a Twitter bet with his friend and Nurse Jackie co-star, Rob DeFranco.

The details of the bet stipulated that Twilight and New Moon actor Peter Facinelli must get 500,000 followers on Twitter by Friday June 19, 2009 or he'd forfeit the back of his Twilight director’s chair to DeFranco - the piece of fabric on the back of the chair with the actor’s name on it. The same type as Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the other cast members in Twilight.

On the line for Rob DeFranco is that he has to dance down Hollywood Boulevard in a bikini, singing Beyonce's "Single Ladies," while holding a sign that says, "Twitter Me."

The bet is over, so check out a personal video message from Peter Facinelli for the final results.

New Moon Trailer Gets a 'Proposal'

Beyond the Twilight Saga, Twilight and New Moon, every now and then a trailer boosts the box-office receipts of a movie that may not quite have performed as well at theaters as expected. In fact, one highly anticipated trailer puts butts in the seats ahead of a completely unrelated movie. This week it was the Twilight sequel New Moon, which previewed at an advance screening of the latest Sandra Bullock comedy The Proposal, which hit theaters on Friday, June 19.

Keep a close eye on the final weekend box-office for The Proposal. If it breaks records, the final numbers may reflect the true power of The Twilight Saga.

New Moon Werewolf Taylor Lautner at CDFA Awards

Although much of the Twilight Saga spotlight was focused squarely on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the first Twilight film, New Moon has expanded the spotlight to include Taylor Lautner and his Jacob Black character who features heavily in the Twilight sequel and recently appeared at the 2009 CDFA Awards.

Now that Taylor Lautner and his new and improved, bulked up Jacob Black character has been revealed to Twilight fans, more attention has been directed at Lautner and his future endeavors, whether it be acting or modeling. At the recent CDFA Awards Access Hollywood noticed Taylor who dished on what he’s been up to lately ... mainly Twilight publicity. The Twilight and New Moon lycanthrope went on to reveal that New Moon has wrapped and the Twilight Saga cast is gearing up to start shooting Eclipse sometime in August.

New Moon’s Kristen Stewart joins Joan Jett for Studio Set

At some point in their careers, actors and musicians often exchange career seats. This time, however, New Moon and Twilight actress Kristen Stewart is getting an early start. Stewart is currently filming the Runaways, a biopic about Joan Jett as the front woman for the 1970’s all-female punk/rock group. Stewart’s New Moon cast mate, Dakota Fanning, will star opposite Kristen in the film as well.

Fans of the Twilight Saga who have been wondering why Kristen Stewart lopped off her hair into a mullet-esque ‘do, her association with the Runaways helps clear up some of those questions, as Stewart’s new haircut mirrors Joan Jett’s trademark "business in the front, party in the back" style of rebellious teens in the 70’s and 80’s, which also inspired a similar look on rocker Pat Benetar.

After Joan Jett and Kristen Stewart were spotted at Sunset Studios in California, Twilight and New Moon fans have been speculating on what music the biopic will include. Jett’s early years as a female punk pioneer have set her apart from a genre that was originally crowded by male acts such as the Buzzcocks, The Clash, and the Sex Pistols.

Now that Kristin Stewart has dabbled with music for the Runaways, will a surprise appearance on the New Moon soundtrack be far behind?

Jackson Rathbone Looks Back at New Moon and Twilight

Now that Twilight and New Moon actor Jackson Rathbone is on hiatus from the Twilight Saga, the supporting New Moon actor who plays Jasper Hale recently spoke to ComingSoon.net/ShockTillYouDrop.com to give his Twilight take on the whole Twilight Saga phenomenon, the craziness of fans, and the fight scene between Jasper and Edward that Twilight fans saw in the recently released New Moon trailer.

As for what Jackson Rathbone thinks of the popularity of Twilight Saga and the process of filming Twilight, Rathbone revealed, ‘We were all kind of making this movie together, and the way Catherine Hardwicke directs, it's really a fun vibe that was on set. It was a little stressful because as we kept filming, the press kept getting more of it and the fans kept being more into it. All these websites started popping up, and all these things. It was amazing. It was like, 'Oh, wow, this is going to be something else!' We started making this movie and people are already loving it and it's not even out yet. It has six months to come out and they're already lining up in the movie theaters. That was an experience in and of itself. I wasn't really prepared for it, but I was really thankful for it, because they're so supportive of what we do. As an actor, you need an audience.’

Ashley Greene of New Moon Speaks Out on Potential Pattinson and Stewart Romance

Rumors of romantic rendezvous on movie sets are as old as the film industry. Sometimes they're true, most times not. The Twilight gossip hounds hungry for New Moon headlines have been trying to force into existence a romantic relationship between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. However, as far as any potential relationship between Pattinson and Stewart, Twilight Saga actress, Ashley Greene, has gone public with her two New Moon cents on the rumors of Robert Pattinson and Stewart and the impact of any potential romance.

Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in both Twilight and New Moon, recently volunteered her opinion on the rumored Pattinson and Stewart pairing, stating that she feels the two Twilight Saga stars should wait until the filming of the entire Twilight saga is complete, including the possible release of Breaking Dawn. Says Greene on the romantic Twilight matter, ‘It's not really smart to while you're working. It's a risky situation. It's hard to separate reality from fantasy. 'If you continue to hang out after filming, then you can decide if you want to date or not.’

As far as Ashley Greene is concerned, the absolute end of the entire Twilight Saga would be a good place to start a Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart relationship. ‘They're great on-screen, and obviously they get along. But maybe they should just not be a couple until after the fourth movie, Breaking Dawn.’

But maybe they're just not a couple.
