Twilight, New Moon and True Blood: The Vampire Feud is On! by Troy Rogers
When
you’re at the top of the heap you can only enjoy
your exclusivity for so long before the up and
comers start taking shots trying to chip away
at your position above the crowd. Currently the
top dog of the vampire world is Stephenie Meyer’s
Twilight Saga and the upcoming sequel New Moon,
starring Robert Pattinson, Kristin Stewart, and
Taylor Lautner, but with Twilight’s phenomenal
success it was bound to attract some competition
and a rivalry aside from the Buffy comparisons.
The inevitable Twilight Saga spark over Twilight, New Moon and True Blood was bound to ignite, as the HBO vampire series, True Blood, is the first to draw ... true blood. According to a report by MTV, True Blood star, Stephen Moyer, who plays Texas vampire Bill Compton, had choice but colorful Twilight words for the big screen New Moon competition, namely the Robert Pattinson embodied Edward Cullen of Twilight and New Moon fame.
MTV reveals that during a True Blood interview, Stephen Moyer bared his fangs and went for the Twilight Saga jugular of Robert Pattinson, attempting to verbally tear Edward Cullen to shreds with comments like, "He's a pu---!" That could mean one of two different Twilight Saga related slang, but Moyer added, "He's the Slim-Fast, Diet Coke of vampires."
Whether
Stephen Moyer is Twilight right or New Moon
wrong about Edward Cullen (Pattinson), it doesn't
matter. Will the Twilight and New Moon cast,
which includes Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart
and Taylor Lautner, take the high road on True
Blood and not respond to the comments made by
Moyer of True Blood? What about Twilight fan
video mashups of Compton versus Cullen? How
will the True Blood Twilight shot over the bow
of the New Moon ship affect viewership of True
Blood on HBO? There are so many Twilight and
True Blood questions surrounding the comments
of Stephen Moyer that we’re kicking back and
see how this plays out in Twilight Saga and
True Blood real time.
Good call on Moyer's part. It's about time someone shook things up.
I haven't read the true blood series and to be honest i'd rather not. I have fallen 4 the twilight d=saga and use my published name for all of the sites i join up for-even if they aren't twilight rellated. I find pease in myself when reading the books and watching the movie. The saga has really tuched me

I watch True Blood and I a have read all of the Twilight books many times. In addition, I am not a teen, but I am a 45 year old mother of 4. I prefer the Twilight Saga. Actually, that is an understatement. I have never been touched by a series or any novel as much as I have been by this series. I have never felt that I needed to read a series over and over. There is so much in this series- more than what there appers to be. There are allusions to classic literature. There are well developed characters who you care deeply about. There are thought provoking issues such as the afterlife and souls, and it is all written without needing a lot of violence and sex.
The Twilight series is about love- love for family and the ultimate romantic love. The Cullen vampires are good to the core. They go against their nature, sending the message that it is OK to stand up for your beliefs.
As I stated above, I watch True Blood, but only for quick entertainment. It means nothing to me. But the Twilight series...it's like the ultimate "feel good fairy tale". I am completely addicted to the series, mostly because I wish that real people could be a little bit more like the Cullens, and that love could be as true and as pure as Edward and Bella's.

Stephen Moyer said "He's the Slim-Fast, Diet Coke of vampires." im so happy that he's an expert on vampires!. Jealousy comes to mind when i read anything he has to say. Twilight saga has a lot to offer, Robert Pattinson is doing nothing but play his roll to the tee. If Stephen Moyer read the book he would understand how the character was portrayed.
Twilight is not just for teens. I'm a wife and, mother of 4 and I love the twilight series. If you have never seen true blood, it's kind of discouraging to even watch the show with Mayor's childish antics.

psshh... I think that someone got sick and tired of being asked about Twilight in his interviews... I mean every single person doing anything related to vampires gets asked about Robert Pattinson and the whole Twilight thing... I'd be quite annoyed too... I also think it's evident he's basing his opinion off of the movie and not the books that the movie is based on... whatever. I understand why he said it and it doesn't bother me. I still feel like I can watch True Blood and love my Twilight all at the same time... I mean originally I had Buffy, then Angel... there's enough room to love them all

It sounds like Moyer is a bit threatened and uneasy with Rob Pattinson's popularity, so I'll just say this. Eat your heart out, Moyer! I'm a Grandmother and not a teen.
