Inside Warehouse 13 and ‘Nevermore’
by Nadya Vlassoff

In the 11th episode of the hit Syfy series, Warehouse 13, agents Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) and Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) race against the clock to try and save Myka’s father who is under the mystical power of the legendary pen of Edgar Allen Poe.

A journal and pen are connected together in the episode "Nevermore," as the writing implement is able to cause mass destruction with only a simple written word. Bering and Lattimer face not only physical obstacles, including killer pendulums, but personal demons as well. "Nevermore" also guest stars Battlestar Galactica’s Michael Hogan and Susan Hogan as Myka’s parents.

As the Warehouse 13 action heats up one week from its finale, a bullied student named Bobby (Alec Medlock) steals Poe’s pen from his teacher and begins a downward spiral to try and get a girl and make his tormenters regret their actions. Meanwhile Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) and Eddie search for the pen in an attempt to stop the recurrent destruction the instrument allows Bobby to create. Like every episode of Warehouse 13, the task is easier said than done.

"Nevermore" gives fans a visual treat, especially with all the special effects, as Warehouse 13 writers Brent Mote and Jane Espenson take the dark past of Edgar Allen Poe and twist it into a titillating episode that blends different Poe stories into a tale of revenge that tests family loyalty for Myka Bering. Interestingly, [SPOILER} a shadowy twist at the end of the episode brings back James MacPherson (Roger Rees) after Myka and Pete barely get the chance to avert a crisis.

As some fans may attest by now, the journal and pen are two of the most unassuming artifacts to ever find their way into Warehouse 13. However, neither are any less dangerous as Myka’s father soon finds out. "Nevermore" is a great precursor to the series finale "MacPherson," which will air Tuesday, September 22 on SyFy.
