Chatting with Rashida Jones and Chris Pratt of Parks and Recreation
by Troy Rogers

Now in their second season on the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation with Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones and Chris Pratt have found their comedic groove as quirky ex-lovers Ann Perkins and slacking rocker Andy Dwyer who are now on the outs after Andy fell into a construction pit, broke his legs and kept his cast on longer than needed at the expense of Ann's sympathy. In the November 5 episode of Parks and Recreation called "Ron and Tammy", Andy (Chris Pratt) gets a job in hopes of winning Ann (Rashida Jones) back while Leslie (Poehler) discovers the library department is eyeing her lot and the library is run by Ron's (Nick Offerman) ex-wife Tammy played by Parks and Rec guest star Megan Mullally.

During a recent Parks and Recreation conference call, we snagged a few brief minutes with Rashida Jones and Chris Pratt to learn more about their Parks and Recreation favorite episodes to date and whether Ann and Andy will have a larger presence on the web.

THE DEADBOLT: Which episodes are your favorites?

RASHIDA JONES: Selfishly, I really enjoyed "Practice Date". It was fun to be able to do something. I generally tend to be the voice of reason; it was nice to be able to be like the shit starter a little bit. Sorry to use that language but it was nice to create the action a little bit. I just also thought that was such a well constructed episode. I love the game that they were playing with each other about finding the deep dark secrets in their past.

CHRIS PRATT: That was a really, really good episode.

JONES: So funny. And Amy [Poehler] was just absolutely adorable. That scene where she shows up drunk at (Dave)'s house is incredible. I would say that one so far. But I have to say, every episode I like better and better and better. I just saw "Ron and Tammy", it's like the best thing I've ever seen in my life. It's so good. So I don't know.

PRATT: Yeah. I like that episode a lot. I like them all, you know? Also, again, it's like Rashida said from the selfish angle, the finale of last year when I got to be like in rock star fantasy camp for a week and be on stage singing into a mic with a guitar and having 150 extras paid to cheer for me, that was pretty rad both shooting and watching it.

JONES: That's "Rock Show"? That's such a good episode. I loved that episode.

PRATT: That was cool. They are getting a lot better. I'm starting to like them more and more. I think we're finding our timing. And like Rashida said, it takes about maybe ten episodes to figure out where you're at. We did six episodes in the first season and then I think by episode five this season, I feel like we've been just kind of like connecting left, right, left, right.

THE DEADBOLT: I noticed that Ron got his own website for Duke Silver. Is there any chance that either Ann or Andy will get their own off-shoot website?

JONES: I would say Andy has more of a chance than Ann. I don't know what boring-ass website Ann would have where she talks about like slightly different variations of the color blue in her scrubs. I don't know what ...

PRATT: You know what it could be? It could be the "Patients Who Have a Crush on Ann the Nurse" website and it'll just be people who sign in who went to the hospital and had a crush on their nurse.

JONES: That's sweet. You're sweet, Pratt.

PRATT: Yeah. So I don't know. You know, I think Andy has a Scarecrow Boat website.

JONES: Yeah, he does. You do.

PRATT: Which is the band. It's on the nbc.com website, Scarecrow Boat, and it's basically just a list of our band names or something.
