Taylor Swift: From Twilight Rumors to CMA Tears
by Reg Seeton
In recent weeks, Taylor Swift has been making headlines everywhere, from rumors of her alleged Twilight romance with New Moon actor Taylor Lautner and her run-in with Kanye West to Taylor Swift appearing on Saturday Night Live. The latest Taylor Swift headline speaks directly to the talent of Taylor Swift as a country music artist since Swift was awarded Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards, becoming the youngest person ever to win the coveted CMA award.
The career of Taylor Swift is off to a great start at the age of 19, as Swift recently had a night most country singers could only dream of during the 43rd annual Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. Taylor Swift picked up awards in every category she was nominated, which included: Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year, and Album of the Year. But the highlight of the Taylor Swift dominated CMA was her Entertainer of the Year award, which landed Swift in the record books as the youngest recipient ever.
Taking the Entertainer of the Year award in good stride, a tearful Taylor Swift joked with the audience saying, "I want to thank every single person here tonight for not running up on stage during this speech", referring to the Kanye West interruption during her acceptance speech at the MTV VMAs where Taylor Swift won Best Female Video of the Year.
In related Taylor Swift CMA news, Wynonna Judd had to back pedal on her comments about the Taylor Swift win in which Judd was first quoted on the red carpet as saying, "You want my honest comment? It's too much too soon. Time is God's way of keeping everything from happening at once. It's just too much of a good thing too soon." After many negative comments directed at Wynonna over Taylor Swift the famous country singer clarified her stance on Taylor Swift on her official website, saying, "My intent was not to take anything away from her talent and contributions to the country music industry, all of which are truly unprecedented for an artist of any age," she said. "Taylor is a beautiful, hard-working young woman that deserves the success she has had and I support her as an artist and as a woman in the business."
