After months of the usual comic fanboy speculation
over the upcoming Kenneth Branagh directed Thor,
the third of the Avengers movies, filming on Thor
began on Monday and wrapped its first day of principal
photography while actor Stuart Townsend parted
ways with Thor on the first day. Townsend, who
was tapped for the supporting Thor role of Fandral,
and was six hours late for a screen test was
handed his walking papers from the Thor set, reports
Harry and the gang at Ain't
It Cool News.
As a result of the Townsend exit, the role of Fandral has been handed to actor Joshua Dallas who's fresh off a bit role in the upcoming film Red Tails, a story by George Lucas about the famous Tuskegee Airmen. Although the first day of principal photography on Thor kicked of the hype for the Avengers series film, it appears the split between Stuart Townsend and Thor wasn't harmonious.
Thor is slated to hit theaters in 2011 via Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.
