No Ranch Regrets with Migdalia Sebren of The Biggest Loser Couples
by Troy Rogers

Although The Biggest Loser Couples is serious business when it comes to lifestyle transformations, the drama of losing weight on The Biggest Loser took hold this week when tensions boiled over between the red and green teams at The Biggest Loser ranch, with Migdalia Sebren becoming the last Biggest Loser to leave the game. After the first Biggest Loser challenge that saw each Biggest Loser contestant run to find the right playing card that would give one team a huge advantage, the red team of Melissa and Lance came out on top but was forced to make a critical Biggest Loser decision. When Melissa and Lance gave the mother and daughter team of Miggy Cancel and Migdalia Sebren a two pound disadvantage at The Biggest Loser Couples weigh-in, sparks ignited when Miggy and Migdalia fell below the yellow line.

At the end of her Biggest Loser rope, Migdalia asked her Biggest Loser Couples ranch mates to send her home to be with her kids and husband who was about to leave for Afghanistan. Although it wasn't a pretty Biggest Loser sight when Migdalia Sebren left the ranch, it was understandable why Migdalia wanted to leave early.

With Miggy still at The Biggest Loser ranch, we caught up with now former Biggest Loser contestant Migdalia Sebren to find out how she dealt with the up and down weight loss, how much her family played a part in her Biggest Loser Couples departure, and how the emotional side of The Biggest Loser plays a part in getting healthy.

THE DEADBOLT: We're all familiar with the term yo-yo dieting. You admitted to having gained ten pounds before your husband went to Afghanistan. Can you describe this experience for us?

MIGDALIA SEBREN: When I got home, it was a little bit of a shock just because I got so used to healthy eating when I was at the ranch and eating certain foods. Then when I got home it was just too much work. And my husband leaving, you come back in and take everything again being the mom and learning and doing everything. I put myself back [together]. I started to put everybody else ahead of me, but I pulled myself together and I'm doing great now.

THE DEADBOLT: When you were given the opportunity to speak with your family by the gray team, how much did that play a part in your plea to go home at the vote?

MIGDALIA: Actually, I was so glad that I got the opportunity from the gray team. I talked to my husband and my daughter and I heard my son. I actually wanted to stay and if I didn't fall below the yellow line I would've been there. But my decision was based on my mom. I truly believe that my mom needed it more than me.

There were certain things that I worked through that week and I noticed that. And my mom not having hit that point, I truly believe that my mom needed to stay there.

THE DEADBOLT: From your experience, do you think emotional walls play a significant role in weight loss?

MIGDALIA: Yeah, Jillian was [right]. Not knowing what is getting you to that point, it will set the pace back.

THE DEADBOLT: If the green team had won the first challenge, how would you guys have distributed the two pound weight gain, no access to the gym, and no elimination vote penalties?

MIGDALIA: Actually, I have not thought about it. I don't know. I wouldn't have known how to put it out. Even now I cannot say because I really don't have an answer for that.

THE DEADBOLT: Did you have a favorite challenge during your time on the show?

MIGDALIA: The ribbon challenge was fun and the balancing one was fun.
