Survivor Trash Talk with Villain Randy Bailey
by Troy Rogers

After putting the Survivor heat on the Heroes last week, the Survivor Villains became the main focus in the latest episode of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, as Randy Bailey of Survivor Gabon became the third Survivor to have his torch extinguished. Although Survivor Villain Russell Hantz set his sights on Boston Rob, the tribal voting strategy became an easy numbers game after Randy Bailey was pitted against James of the Heroes in a mud battle for Survivor immunity that saw Randy completely overmatched with the Survivor odds stacked against him. Although the Villains are sizing up their tribe mates, Randy became the easy "weak" vote after expectedly losing to James.

The day after Randy Bailey saw his time on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains come to an end, we tracked Randy down for a quick Survivor chat to learn more about trash talking against James, why Randy appeared to be more reserved than Survivor Gabon, and the Survivor he'd most like to hang out with in post Survivor life.

THE DEADBOLT: Were you surprised that you were on the Villains tribe?

RANDY BAILEY: No, I wasn't. You know, I've said this many times today, that there are two types of villains that were out there. There's the kind that screw people over, like Russell and Boston Rob, and there are also loyal villains like Coach and myself and Tyson, probably even Courtney. They never really screwed anybody over, they're just kind of snarky in their comments. That's why we're villains, we tell it like it is.

THE DEADBOLT: What was going through your mind when you were pitted against James in that Sumo challenge, and what is your response to how he acted?

RANDY: You know, going against James, I just watched the villains get their ass kicked seven to nothing. So there was absolutely no pressure on me going up against James. If we do that challenge a thousand times and I will win one of them, that's when he gets struck by lightening. So talk about having no pressure. I went up there and decided to have some fun with it and was doing some - what I thought was - playful trash talking and he didn't quite take it that way. But James has to live with himself, I don't have to live with him.

THE DEADBOLT: You seemed more reserved this time. We're you surprised that strategy didn't work?

RANDY: Not surprised seeing what happened with Russell aligning with Danielle and Parvati on day one. Yeah, I'm not surprised. I'm disappointed. I think if we would've voted out Parvati last night, I think I would've gone a long way in the game.

THE DEADBOLT: What do think about the format with one combined immunity and reward challenge? Was that better than the separate reward and immunity challenges?

RANDY: You know, there's a lot of down time out there and two days in a row with nothing to do is maddening.

THE DEADBOLT: Who did you like on your tribe? Was there anyone that you could see yourself hanging out with outside of the game?

RANDY: Sure. I liked Coach. I liked Jerry. I liked Tyson. And even though I was targeting, Parvati, she's okay. I don't have a problem with her. I wanted her gone, but I don't have a problem with her.

THE DEADBOLT: Speaking of having a problem with people, what's it been like hanging out with Sugar?

RANDY: [laughs] What, at Ponderosa?

THE DEADBOLT: Yes.

RANDY: We both behaved. There was no point in continuing to fight. I adopted that strategy and I think she did, too. Sorry to be so boring. Not that much to talk about this time, you know?
