Food and Friendship with Cheryl George of The Biggest Loser
by Alison Cox

After winning an agonizing Biggest Loser squat contest against Darrell in last week’s episode of The Biggest Loser Couples, the Biggest Loser competitor, Cheryl George, survived one more week. The Biggest Loser contestants spent the week working for the Food Bank, which proved to be a humbling experience for many of the reformed over-eaters of The Biggest Loser.

The days were long and the week even longer for the weary Biggest Loser ranchers as they got off the bus and hit the Biggest Loser gym for an hour each night. Balancing healthy eating and exercise with an exhausting work week was a great test for The Biggest Loser contestants to prepare them for the realities awaiting them at home. We asked Cheryl about leaving The Biggest Loser ranch, but set the tone with an ice-breaker question about her favorite new body part now that she's leading a new Biggest Loser lifestyle.

THE DEADBOLT: With the weight coming off, which body part are you most proud of when checking yourself out in the mirror and how has it changed?

CHERYL GEORGE: I would have to say, it’s my butt. When I look at me from the side, I’m shocked because I haven’t seen myself look like this in, I want to say, 25 years.

THE DEADBOLT: Fantastic. It must make you feel pretty good.

CHERYL GEORGE: Yes, it does. The part I miss the most is my boobs. [laughs]

THE DEADBOLT: After each Food Bank day, the contestants were always exhausted. Much like a long day at work in the real world, describe how you avoided "couching it" and pushed past it to work out instead?

CHERYL GEORGE: Well, that was my ultimate goal. When I would come home from work, I’d be so exhausted. I’d go straight to the couch. Something you do realize once you’re there, the more you do exercise and the shape that we were getting into, I actually look forward to coming home from work and going to do exercise. It’s something I look forward to. I have more energy than I ever dreamed I would have.

THE DEADBOLT: Was it a surprise to you that Sherry and Ashley voted differently at the elimination?

CHERYL GEORGE: No, because I felt like Ashley was voting more like Sam would want her to. I felt Sherry was just voting because Sam and Stephanie both had very low weight loss. It’s almost like they didn’t even try to do anything. So Sherry was just going for the one with weight loss, which doesn’t seem like I was voting myself since I went for the percentage of weight loss.

I actually went for the number and Sherry actually went for the percentage. I went for the 3 pounds of loss and Sam would have had the least amount of percentage weight loss. I wasn’t shocked. Ashley is one of the young ones. That’s just the way the whole show has been going. They’re sending their parents, the older people home, so they don’t have to spare any of the young ones that are in there.

THE DEADBOLT: How do you see your friendship with Sherry in the future?

CHERYL GEORGE: I think that is a lifelong relationship right there.

THE DEADBOLT: Do you have plans for maintaining your friendship?

CHERYL GEORGE: We’re going to meet midway and go shopping.

THE DEADBOLT: For your new small size clothes.

CHERYL GEORGE: That’s right! We’ll go shopping after the finale.
