Britney Spears Is Pregnant Again
By Doug Pendrell
Wednesday, May 10, 2006
It's now official. Britney Spears is pregnant, one more time. Spears was on the Late Show with David Letterman when she announced to the world she is pregnant.
The 24-year-old pop sensation and mother walked out
onto the stage wearing a black dress which revealed
her baby bulge. She told host David Letterman "Don't
worry Dave, it's not yours," according to the Mercury
News. Letterman replied to that by saying
"Oh. Well, I think that's good news for both of
us." Reuters
quoted Letterman's interview, showing him following
up with the point-blank question, "So, we've established
now that you are in fact pregnant, is that right?"
Britney Spears replied "Yes, sir", which was
met with applause from the audience, and a kiss on the
hand from David Letterman. Reuters
also reports that "Spears' brief visit was a surprise
to the studio audience that had been arranged earlier
in the day. Guests for network talk shows are usually
booked weeks in advance." Separately, USA
Today quoted Britney Spears' publicist,
Leslie Sloane, as saying "She is pregnant."
The confirmation of Britney Spears' pregnancy ends
speculation that has been running rampant in the media
for weeks (See Britney
Spears 'Pregnant With Second Child', Britney
Spears' Baby Rumored to be a Girl). This
will be the second baby for Spears and husband, Kevin
Federline. Federline and Spears already have one child
together, Sean Preston Federline. Kevin Federline also
has two children from a previous relationship with ex-girlfriend
Shar Jackson, Kori and Kaleb.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were married on
September 18th, 2004. They had their first child together,
Sean Preston Federline, on September 14th, 2005. Britney
Spears is the best-selling female artist of the 2000s,
having sold 85 million albums. Her first two albums
Baby, One More Time and Oops! I Did It Again
were both diamond-selling albums, meaning they sold
more than 10 million copies in the United States. Britney's
albums include Baby, One More Time, Oops!
I Did It Again, Britney, In The Zone,
Greatest Hits: My Prerogative and has appeared
in movies such as The New Mickey Mouse Club,
Crossroads and In The Pink. Britney is
also expected to release a new album in November 2006,
with a world tour tentatively scheduled for 2007.
As for her personal life, Britney Spears has not had
smooth sailing being a parent. Child welfare agents
have had to visit her home twice: once in February because
of photos that showed the pop sensation driving with
Sean Preston on her lap and not in a car seat, and again
in April, when Sean Preston sustained a fractured skull
when a nanny tried to pick him up, and his highchair
broke (See Britney
Spears, Kevin Federline Visited By Child Services).
Spears and Federline fired the nanny.
Also, Kevin Federline is attempting to follow in Britney's
footsteps. He has an album in the works, called Playing
With Fire, that he plans to release in August (See
Kevin
Federline To Release Debut Album). Federline
does not have a record deal lined up, however.
