Actress Michelle Rodriguez has been sentenced to 60 days in jail in Los Angeles for violating the terms of her probation, according to a spokesperson for the city attorney. Along with the 60 day jail term, Rodriguez has also been sentenced to 30 days of community service with the Sheriff's Department and other organizations.

The probation violation stems from an arrest in Hawaii on December 1st of last year, where Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Co-incidentally, her Lost co-star Cynthia Watros was arrested just minutes later in a separate incident of driving under the influence. Watros' blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.10, while Rodriguez registered a 0.17 blood-alcohol level. While Watros pled guilty and was assessed a $312 fine and was ordered to surrender her license and undergo an alcohol assessment. Michelle Rodriguez pled not guilty and opted to spend five days in jail.

The arrest in Hawaii violated a condition of a probation sentence Rodriguez had already received. As ABC News reports, "The Honolulu arrest violated the three-year probation term the actress was given in 2004 after pleading no contest to charges of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence of alcohol," according to spokesperson Frank Mateljan.

Michelle Rodriguez's jail time will commence May 31st. According to the BBC, in addition to the community service to be served with the Sheriff's Department, Rodriguez "must also attend an educational course on the effects of alcohol, the Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel and the city's hospital and morgue program." These conditions were laid down in court by Judge Rex Hesseman.

MSNBC has reported that "Rodriguez's probation was extended until June, 2009." Also, Michelle Rodriguez's lawyer, Henry Holmes, was not available for comment.

Michelle Rodriguez's character on the hit ABC series, Lost, Ana Lucia Cortez, was fatally shot in an episode two weeks ago. As well as Ana Lucia Cortez, Cynthia Watros' character, Libby, was also fatally shot in the same episode. Writers of the show deny that the two characters were killed off as a result of their separate arrests, claiming that was how it was to be all along.

Michelle Rodriguez has had a fair share of problems involving drunk driving. 2004, Rodriguez pled no contest to a total of three charges ranging from hit-and-run to drunk driving while in Los Angeles, which garnered her a thee year probation stint and a three month alcohol program. As well as the previous incidents in Los Angeles, Michelle Rodriguez has had her fair share of problems in Hawaii, where Lost is filmed. She was stopped for speeding three separate times in 2005, leading to a total of $854.

Apart from playing Ana Lucia on Lost, Michelle Rodriguez has also appeared movies such as BloodRayne, S.W.A.T., Blue Crush, Resident Evil, The Fast and the Furious and Girlfight.
