This looks like the year for celebrities to have kids. First, it was TomKat and their new girl, Suri. Then, it was Adam Sandler and his new daughter, and now it's Brangelina and their new daughter, Shiloh Nouvel Pitt-Jolie.

On Saturday, Angelina Jolie gave birth to her and Brad Pitt's first child together, Shiloh Nouvel Pitt-Jolie, in the African country of Namibia. For two months following the couple's arrival in Africa, the press and paparazzi have been going mad trying to get photos and news of the mega star couple and have also been clamoring to get that first photo of the new baby. According to an article on ABC News, there are no public photos of Shiloh yet and the couple reportedly have plans to sell the first photos for as much as $5 million, which they will donate to the charity, UNICEF. In a quote from the Namibian ambassador to the US, Hopelonge Ipinge, to ABC News, the issue of privacy and security for the stars was of the utmost importance to the country's officials and the government was more than happy to arrest, and even deport, intrusive paparazzi. Ipinge stated that "They were just given protection in terms of the security not for someone to intrude in their privacy.", adding that, "They need to be protected."

Aside from the joy and excitement both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt must feel with their new arrival, the entire country of Namibia views the birth as almost a godsend. All Africa reports that The Namibian's office at Swakopmund has been flooded with calls and e-mails from well wishers across the country and around the world, asking how to send Shiloh and the parents gifts. Samuel Nuuyoma, the Governor of the Erongo Region, issued a statement wishing the couple good luck and health and was quoted as saying, "Just like Angelina, this precious Namibian-born baby will be our ambassador." In a separate press conference, Deputy Minister of Environment Leon Jooste revealed the news that Jolie and Pitt had donated US$300 000 (about N$1,9 million) for supplies to improve the maternity wards at the State hospitals at Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. The couple was quoted as saying, "We want to contribute to Namibia and the people who have been so gracious to us at this time."

Back to the topic of protection for Shiloh, it's reported on Hollywood.com that on the very same day of the birth, Jolie wasn't taking any chances and had her legal team back in the states snatch up the internet domain name, shilohnouveljoliepitt.com. Apparently, the site was registered to Angelina Jolie at 8:27 pm L.A. time on Saturday, May 27, 2006.
