The Constant Gardener star, Rachel Weisz and her director finance, Darren Aronofsky, welcomed a new baby boy at New York City hospital on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Weisz's spokeswoman, Kelly Bush, declined to give the baby's name or weight, but said that Rachel and the baby are happy, healthy and wonderful.
According to People,
Rachel Weisz first revealed her pregnancy back in January
on The Tonight Show. When the topic of her
finance, Darren Aronofsky, came up, she was quoted as
saying, "I found myself a sophisticated, educated
American. He's not an actor. He's traveled the world.
He knows where Europe is, unlike a lot of Americans.
He's very cultured, but he's all man." As for Aronofsky,
last month he told People about Weisz's cravings
and had this to say. "I was expecting all the weird
things. There's this jar of pickles sitting in the fridge.
It's been there for months and she hasn't even eaten
one."
Aside from the arrival of the couple's first child,
Weisz will also be starring in Darren Aronofsky's latest
film, a sci-fi drama called, The Fountain,
due out later this year. iAfrica,
reports that Weisz will co-star with Hugh Jackman in
The Fountain, which originally had Brad Pitt
and Cate Blanchet in the lead roles. Instead, both Pitt
and Blanchet appear in Babel which premiered
at this year's Cannes Film Festival (See
Cate Launches Babel at Cannes).
Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky met back in 2001,
which prompted the British star to move to New York.
Rachel Weisz is best known for her roles in such movies
as: The Constant Gardener, Chain Reaction,
The Mummy, Enemy at the Gates, Runaway
Jury, and Constantine. She also picked up
a 2006 Oscar, Golden Globe, and SAG award for The
Constant Gardener. Darren Aronofsky is the director
behind the films: Pi, Requiem for a Dream
and his latest project, The Fountain. Aronofsky's
unconfirmed future projects include, Son of Kali,
Lone Wolf and Cub, Flicker, and Black
Flies.
