Britney Spears to Divorce Kevin Federline?

The rumors surrounding Britney Spears' marriage to wannabe rapper Kevin Federline are hitting a fever pitch, as reports surface that Spears may have already signed preliminary divorce papers.

Life Style Extra has reported that a source close to Britney Spears has said "Britney has already started seeing lawyers about splitting with Kevin. She is serious about it and even though she's pregnant she knows that she has to get things moving." The source goes on to claim that " It's a very stressful time for her at the moment what with expecting her second baby."

The original source of the quote, The News of the World reports that "We can reveal that Brits, 24, has already signed preliminary divorce papers after a long series of furious bust-ups with [Kevin Federline]." As TheBosh.com reports, "Britney told Kevin to get his clothes and personal items out of her house by the end of Memorial Day weekend." Along with the report, a statement made to TheBosh.com by an insider allegedly claimed "She told him their marriage is over."

The report of Britney Spears signing the divorce papers follows last week's speculation that she would be meeting with her divorce lawyers, coupled with the stinging poem posted on her website that seemed to be taking a shot at Kevin Federline (See Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's Rocky Relationship). Beyond the alleged signing of preliminary divorce papers, Digital Spy reports that "Britney Spears has recruited a male nanny following her reported split from Kevin Federline and sustained criticism of her mothering skills."

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were married on September 18th, 2004. They had their first child together, Sean Preston Federline, on September 14th, 2005. On May 10th, 2006, Spears confirmed her second pregnancy (See Britney Spears in Pregnant Again). Britney Spears is the best-selling female artist of the 2000s, having sold 85 million albums. Her first two albums Baby, One More Time and Oops! I Did It Again were both diamond-selling albums, meaning they sold more than 10 million copies in the United States. Britney's albums include Baby, One More Time, Oops! I Did It Again, Britney, In The Zone, Greatest Hits: My Prerogative and has appeared in movies such as The New Mickey Mouse Club, Crossroads and In The Pink. Britney is also expected to release a new album in November 2006, with a world tour tentatively scheduled for 2007.
