After two years of engagement, singer Alanis Morissette and actor Ryan Reynolds have called it quits. Rumors have been circling for months that the Canadian couple's relationship has been on the rocks, and it appears to be confirmed through their separation.

Both Us Magazine and People have reported the split between the couple. Ryan Reynolds and Alanis Morissette met at Drew Barrymore's birthday party back in 2002. Reynolds and Morissette dated for two years before Reynolds proposed in 2004. The couple haven't been photographed together since February, and rumors indicate that both may have started seeing other people already.

Us Magazine quoted one insider as saying "He isn't acting like a man who is engaged," and went on to report that "the actor, 29, has been sending flirty e-mails to a female pal. Another source says Reynolds has hooked up with a personal trainer. And a third says Morissette, 32, may be dating a relationship coach."

No reason has been given for the break-up. It sparks a radical departure from the Canadians that seemed so happy together a year ago. As People reports, in June 2005, Alanis Morissette said "He's just such a supportive creature. I feel so loved by him, in a trampoline kind of way. He's always very happy for me." Morissette also attributed their relationship success to the fact that they're both Canadian. "We already started off with the shorthand, so I think it's a really great base. I attempted dating many American men. I tried!

The couple had seemed very fond of each other during their lengthy engagement, which never had a wedding date set. People quoted Morissette as saying " We're just really enjoying this (engagement) phase," and Reynolds as saying "We feel like we're already married."

Ryan Reynolds got his biggest break by starring in National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Since that time, Reynolds has gone on to star in Foolproof, Blade: Trinity, The Amityville Horror, Waiting and Just Friends, with appearances in Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle andThe In-Laws. Reynolds has been on several TV series, including Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, In Cold Blood and Tourist Trap.

Alanis Morissette first made it big on the music scene as Alanis, releasing a self-titled album. The album went double-platinum in Canada, though was never released in the United States. As Alanis Morissette, she released Jagged Little Pill, which would sell 30 million copies on the strength of singles like "You Oughta Know", "Hand in My Pocket", "Ironic", "You Learn" and "Head Over Feet". Her next album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie sold 8 million copies with the hit single "Thank U". Morissette's third album, Under Rug Swept and her fourth album, So-Called Chaos would debut at #1 and #5, respectively, on the Billboard 200. Morissette has also won several Grammy Awards and Juno Awards.
