Nicole Kidman Has Quiet Birthday Before Wedding
By Scott Ferguson
Tuesday, June 20, 2006
The news of a relatively sedate, relaxed 39th birthday may not be
news for all but we're not all getting married on Sunday and we're not
all Nicole Kidman. The Oscar-winning star is to wed country star Keith
Urban on Sunday, after the two met last January. The
Australian had a few of the very well-protected details about the impending
nuptials, "While details are secret, it is believed they will tie the
knot at North Sydney's Mary Mackillop Chapel or at the Cardinal Cerretti
Memorial Chapel, a gothic-style sandstone church in St Patrick's
Estate, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean at Manly. It is believed long-time
Kidman family friend and confidant Reverend Father Paul Coleman will
conduct the ceremony."
But that's not for a few days, so Nicole Kidman will
spend her birthday quietly and, after being sung to
by the press corps that surround her every move, she
emerged and said the following about her plans, as reported
by The Australian, "Not
much, dinner at home with mum ... boring. Thank you
for the flowers and the singing."
Nicole Kidman, the now-39 year-old actress, won an
Oscar for 2002's The Hours and also broke hearts
in Moulin Rouge and Cold Mountain. She
will star in the upcoming Fur and The Visiting.
Keith Urban won the Grammy this year for best male country
performance for You'll Think of Me.
So, who goes to a wedding as star-studded as Nicole
Kidman and Keith Urban's? As you might expect, with
Nicole Kidman's almost-royal status in Australia, that
the cream of that country's star crop would come out
and you'd be right - Russell Crowe (Gladiator),
Hugh Jackman (Wolverine from The X-Men movies),
Naomi Watts (King Kong), Baz Luhrmann (Moulin
Rouge), and Rupert Murdoch are all rumored to be
attending the big day. But what about Nicole Kidman's
infamous ex, Tom Cruise? Could he attend? The Daily Telegraph
broke that rumor, "Meanwhile, Kidman's ex-husband
Tom Cruise emerged in Tokyo, sparking rumours he was
en route to Sydney to accompany the couple's children
Isabella and Connor to Australia for the wedding."
How do you keep a top secret wedding, well, top secret?
Even the guests don't know all the details. USA Today reported on
just how Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were keeping
everything, including the where and when, private, "Guests
have been told to keep their schedules free from Friday
to Monday, as they will be given only 24 hours notice
as to the time and location, local media said."
It's clear that the upcoming days won't be nearly as "boring" as
Nicole Kidman's 39th birthday.
