Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Ready To Marry
By Doug Pendrell
Saturday, June 24, 2006
Details are secret, the location is unknown, and the exact time of the wedding is anyone's guess. Perfect conditions for the rumors and conjecture of the paparazzi.
The Associated Press has been reporting on
the event non-stop, givig up their best guesses as to
the details. The
Mercury News posted an article, saying
"Local media have widely predicted a traditional
Roman Catholic ceremony at a gothic-style sandstone
church overlooking Sydney's iconic Manly beach shortly
after dusk Sunday."
It is also reported that Keith
Urban and Nicole Kidman have signed a prenuptial.
The prenup allows Kidman an escape clause, should Urban
slip back into alcohol or drug abuse. The details of
the alleged prenup weren't confirmed.
What could be confirmed is the "who's who" that appears
on the guest list. Reuters
tallies up the guest list as such. "a guest list
of 230 could include Oscar winner Renee Zellwegger,
Kidman's "Cold Mountain" co-star. Other guests include
Naomi Watts, star of "King Kong" and long-time Kidman
friend, "X-Men" star Hugh Jackman's wife Deborra-Lee
Furness, and possibly Russell Crowe. News Corp boss
Rupert Murdoch is also reportedly on the guest list."
Also, don't forget about Isabella,
13, and Connor, 11. However, it's not much
of a stretch to assume their father, Tom Cruise, won't
be at the wedding.
So, what does Nicole Kidman want on the night of her
wedding? The same things any bride would want. "I'm
going to get some sleep," reports CBS
News And, as Rob Potts, Keith Urban's
manager said, "Nicole and Keith just want a normal
wedding and to celebrate with their friends and family.
They're both just happy to have their family around
them at this time and both are really excited and very
happy about the wedding."
The Australian newspapers and media have been filled
with rumors about the details, and more rumors about
the location, the wedding, and anything else imaginable.
CNN
reports some of the Australian media's reports. "For
the dress, local media have predicted Kidman will return
to her preferred design house, Balenciaga, which has
produced a custom-designed white gown with "lots of
high collars," according to The Sydney Morning Herald
newspaper."
The BBC
quoted the man tipped to be performing the ceremony,
Jesuit father Paul Coleman, saying he had a"good
feeling about their chances. You've got to rely on their
maturity and knowledge of each other and I'm impressed."
ABC
News went about quoting Caroline Schaefer,
a senior editor at US Weekly. "I think
Nicole was really blindsided. But she said at the time,
'I believe in love and you know what, I'm gonna get
back out there.'" Schaefer also went on to say
that this time, religion won't be a problem. "Tom
and Nicole didn't agree about religion. He was a scientologist
and she always remained a Catholic." Well, at least
they agreed on a priest for this wedding. However, it
was Schaefer's last quote that hit the nail on the head.
"Nicole and Keith's wedding is reportedly going
to be very elegant."
The couple first met in early 2005 at an awards dinner
in L.A. honoring the actress and singer, hosted by the
Australian Government.
Kidman, 38 has two adopted children from her previous
marriage to Tom Cruise, which lasted 10 years from 1991
to 2001 and her film credits include, Days of Thunder,
Batman Forever, Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin
Rouge, The Others (Best Actress), The
Interpreter, and Bewitched.
Keith Urban is also 38 and has had great success as
a country singer, with multiple awards and #1 hits in
the US, including, But for the Grace of God,
Somebody Like You, Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me,
Days Go By, You'll Think of Me (2006 Grammy
Best Male Country Vocal Performance), Making Memories
of Us, and Better Life.
