Hilary Swank Reveals Chad Lowe's Drug Problem

As another celebrity marriage is headed down the drain, with Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe getting close to having their divorce finalized. Swank dropped a bombshell during an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, talking about her ex husband, Chad Lowe's drug problem and how it lead to their splitting.

Back in May the star of Million Dollar Baby, Hilary Swank came out with the news that she and her husband Chad Lowe were ending their 8 year marriage, but failed to give a reason. Well now it seems that a major part of the split revolves around Chad's drug problems. According to Reuters, Hilary Swank tells all in an up coming interview she conducted with Vanity Fair and admits she was shocked to learn of Lowe's addiction. " I don't want to make it seem like that's the sole reason; there were other factors," adding, " But that just kind of blew it open; it made me look at things a lot deeper." Apparently Hilary didn't discuss what types of drugs Chad had a problem with, but did admit to initiating the divorce, which ended up being a mutual decision between the couple.

BBC, reports that Swank was quoted to say that Chad is now been clean and sober. "He's living a sober life," the star said, "I know how difficult it is, and I'm really proud of his sobriety."

I'm a person with my own faults and troubles. I make mistakes; I'm not some squeaky-clean person here." adding, "In the end, it just didn't work, but I would never look back on this relationship as failed; I look at it as 13½ years of success." In addition to the topic of her divorce and Chad's drug problem, Hilary also discussed why the couple didn't have a family. "In hindsight, you realize why you didn't do it. Neither of us was ready. We had too many things we were working through. Because of our troubled pasts, I don't think we wanted to have a family until it was the right time and the right decision for both of us. I really want to have a family someday, but I'm certainly not going to rush into doing it."

Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe met in 1992 and were married 5 years later.

Swank is a two time Oscar winner, for her roles in both, Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby. Her other film credits include, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Next Karate Kid, The Gift, Insomnia, and The Core. The latest film is the Brian De Palma directed, The Black Dahlia

Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor, Rob Lowe has mainly worked in television and took home an Emmy for his role in Life Goes On, back in 1993. His other TV credits include, Melrose Place, Poltergeist: The Legacy, Touched By an Angel, Law & Order: SVU,CSI: Miami, E.R., and Medium.
