Kim Cattrall, former Sex and the City star, has stirred up another sexy controversy after a raunchy commercial for Nissan has been pulled from the air in New Zealand, according to The Associated Press. Kim Cattrall played the most sex-centric of the four ladies on Sex and the City, Samantha Jones, and starred in the commercial, where she said, after a series of moans, "Why didn't you tell me it was so big? I just wasn't prepared for it. Ah! That was amazing. Absolutely fabulous! I mean the great body and the way you moved it." A voiceover adds at the end, just in case you missed the subtlety, "The all-new Nissan Tiida makes you feel really, really, really good inside." It seems that equating the size of the interior of a Nissan to the size of a penis didn't fly with the 'Kiwis' of New Zealand, who typically are considered more open to racy advertising, but the Advertising Standards Complaint Board received numerous complaints after the Kim Cattrall Nissan ad aired.

Nissan responded quickly to complaints about the raunchy Kim Cattrall commercial controversy, pulling the ad before the Advertising Standard Complaint Board had a chance to act. Nissan released a statement about the pulling of the Kim Cattrall advertisement, saying "We made this decision in the interest of self-regulation and in response to public feedback."

According to Stuff in New Zealand, "One complainant told the authority the advertisement's use of sexually explicit language to promote a vehicle was "inappropriate and unnecessary". A Nissan spokesman said the commercial had been on only a short time before it was pulled. "In order to stop any chance of offending our customers or consumers in general we made the decision to pull the ad," he said. He did not believe it had been pulled in any other countries."

Kim Cattrall really shot to a new level of fame on Sex and the City, but had been acting for many years before that, acting in film and television since the '70s. The 49 year-old actress has appeared in Porky's, Police Academy, Big Trouble in Little China, Mannequin, The Bonfire of the Vanities, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and last year's The Ice Princess. She'll next be seen, not in a Nissan ad, but television's Him and Us with Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Anthony Head and has finished shooting the theatrical A Tiger's Tale directed by John Boorman.
