Whether he’s tackling the X-Men or working as an executive
producer on Prison Break, Brett Ratner is a very busy
guy. Now, it’s just been announced that he will be taking
on a new remake of the 1978 film, "The Boys From Brazil”.
Brett Ratner just received a new project to his workload
as a director. In addition to “Rush Hour 3”, which Ratner
is currently working on, he will also be at the helm
of a “Boys From Brazil” remake. Zap2it
reports that New Line Cinema has tapped the "X-Men:
The Last Stand" director to oversee a new updated
version of the classic 1978 Nazi cloning film. The original,
which starred Laurence Olivier as a Nazi hunter, centers
around a group of Nazi scientists conducting cloning
experiments to create a super race.
According to Variety,
the new contemporary script was penned by Richard Potter
and Matthew Stravitz. In addition to directing, Ratner
will also produce with Jay Stern through their shingle,
Rat Entertainment. Brett also revealed that this new
version of the script from Potter and Stravitz will
be set in modern times. ”The original was a flawed
film with a brilliant concept,” the director said,
”"You no longer have to spend time explaining cloning
as you did then."
Brett Ratner’s first major film credit was for “Rush
Hour” . He has since gone on to direct “Rush Hour 2”,
“Red Dragon”, “X-Men: The Last Stand” and is currently
working on “Rush Hour 3”. Movies are a big part of Ratner’s
resume, but he has also directed music videos for such
acts as, Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Jessica Simpson.
