Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards Separate Amicably

This divorce had all the signs of one of the meanest divorce cases in Hollywood. Sheen seemed to be sliding into a dark place and Richards wanted to get away. When she did, she wanted all the details to be made public. He didn't like that. She got a restraining order and filed for divorce. He…

Well, after all the initial fireworks, he's okay with that. After discussing the matter, Denise Richards is okay with that, too. Richards and Sheen, married back in 2002, have been in a very heated, and very public, divorce battle for months. Now, it seems the arguments have quieted down, and even their two lawyers can come together. In a joint statement read by Denise Richards' lawyer, Neal Hersh, and Charlie Sheen's lawyer, Lance Spiegel, the two attorneys said "Both parties have amicably resolved any outstanding issues on an interim basis."

The "amicable" solution to the divorce proceedings comes after quite the rocky period. In April Denise Richards obtained a restraining order against Sheen, requiring him to keep 300 yards away from her and their two daughters: Sam J. Estevez and Lola Rose Estevez. The restraining order came after she leveled some strong accusations against Charlie Sheen, including Sheen being a drug addict, a gambling addict, a habitual user of porn and prostitiutes, and the kicker: death threats against Denise. Charlie Sheen denied all these allegations.

No details of the settlement were released by either attorney in the case. While the settlement has been reached, the actual divorce has not been granted yet. According to E Online, the restraining order, which had been temporarily extended last month, has been dropped. Also, a September 12 custody hearing over the children has been dropped from the docket.

Charlie Sheen, born Carlos Estevez, son of Martin Sheen and brother of Emilio Estevez, began his tenure in Hollywood in 1984, and got his first big break with Platoon in 1986. Since then, Sheen has worked on such movies as Major League, Neavy SEALs, Hot Shots!, The Three Musketeers, Terminal Velocity, The Arrival, Being John Malkovich and Scary Movie 3. Sheen took over for Michael J. Fox on the show, Spin City, where he won a Golden Globe Award. Sheen has been twice nominated for Gloden Globe Award for his work on his new series, Two and a Half Men.

As for the other side of the divorce, Denise Richards came to Hollywood fame after appearing in the 1997 movie, Starship Troopers. Richards followed that up with appearances in Wild Things, Drop Dead Gorgeous, The World is Not Enough, Undercover Brother and Scary Movie 3. Since her separation from Sheen, Richards has been romantically linked to John Stamos, and more recently, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.
