Apparently the man of steel has eyes for just one gal, as Brandon Routh proposed to his own real-life Lois Lane it was revealed this week in People Magazine. Earlier this month, Brandon Routh, star of Superman Returns, asked his girlfriend of three years, Courtney Ford, if she would be his wife and she said yes. Apparently, the engagement, which came courtesy of a Neil Lane diamond ring, happened earlier this month with the couple planning to walk down the aisle next fall.

Brandon Routh told People about his true love for Courtney Ford that his new fiancee "brings me to my knees." Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford actually didn't meet through the typical star-studded, Hollywood dating game, meeting when Brandon Routh was still working at a bowling alley. Brandon Routh told People, "I used to work at Lucky Strike. I was a bartender. And her brother was having his (wedding) rehearsal dinner party there." Courtney Ford added "He met my whole family the day he met me."

Brandon Routh had made a few appearances before Superman Returns, including guest spots on Will & Grace, Gilmore Girls, and Cold Case and is in talks to star in a sequel to Superman Returns, tentatively scheduled for 2009, although box office receipts on Superman Returns have been less than the studio hoped for, so the sequel may be up in the air. Courtney Ford is an actress herself, having appeared on Moesha, The Profiler, and Threat Matrix. The two even starred in a film that has made the festival circuit called Denial.

Most people didn't even know Brandon Routh was dating Courtney Ford, as the two have remained very secretive, both being actors who like to avoid the harsh glare of the spotlight. Brandon Routh tole People that they've stayed strong through the blitz surrounding Superman Returns and their extended time apart while Brandon Routh was away filming. If a woman sticks by your side through the kind of pressure around restarting the Superman franchise on your shoulders, marry that girl.
