Now that she's not quite as desperate for fame, Eva Longoria has announced that when her turn on Desperate Housewives ends, she'll say goodbye to working in television and focus solely on film work. Don't worry. Settle down. She's not leaving Desperate Housewives before the possibly long-running series ends. This is just a preemptive announcement in case anyone thinks she's going to bounce around the television dial and remain a TV star. Sky News quotes Eva Longoria about the set for Wisteria Lane being her last, "I would never leave Desperate Housewives. I love doing both (TV and film), but I would never do another TV show after Desperate Housewives."

Desperate Housewives, co-starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Nicolette Sheridan, returns for its third season on Sunday, September 24th and Longoria currently graces the cover of Entertainment Weekly, in which she discusses the peaks and valleys of the first two seasons, particularly how vicious some TV writers got in the lackluster second trip around the Wisteria block, "The critics definitely overdid it. I mean, we were TV's darling for our [first] season and everything was going great, so of course there has to be a downside...[But] to day 'Oh, the show is terrible this year-nobody is watching!' and we have 22 million viewers a week, it's like 'Well, somebody is watching.'"

Even if Desperate Housewives turns things around in season three, a season that promises to be a little more fun than season two, Eva Longoria wants to wave goodbye to TV as soon as it's done, saying "I really want to do more films instead of TV. I want to play strong women. I would love to do a romantic comedy next - I love actors like Vince Vaughn, Jim Carrey, Matthew McConaughey, and Hugh Grant."

The 31 year-old actress was recently named the "#1 Hottest Woman in the World" by Maxim readers, a title that could lead to a few of those romantic comedies that Eva Longoria would love to star in. She also recently signed a publicity contract with cosmetic brand L'Oreal. Interestingly, Eva Longoria's first big post-Desperate Housewives role wasn't in a romantic comedy, as many might of predicted, playing a Secret Service agent in the action-oriented The Sentinel, alongside Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland.

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1975, Eva Longoria started her career with small roles in Beverly Hills, 90210, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless. She also appeared on ABC's short-lived remake of Dragnet. The actress has finished voice work on Foodfight! with Charlie Sheen, Hilary & Haylie Duff, and Christopher Lloyd and is shooting How I Met My Boyfriend's Dead Fiancee while she also shoots season three of Desperate Housewives. Fiancee co-stars Jason Biggs and Paul Rudd.
