Anna Nicole Smith Gives Birth, Loses Son
By Scott Ferguson
Tuesday, September 12, 2006
In a tragic twist of fate, Anna Nicole Smith's son died just days
after the former Playboy Playmate and reality TV star gave birth to a
baby girl. Daniel, Anna Nicole Smith's 20 year-old son, had just visited
his mother and baby sister hours before he passed away and Anna Nicole
actually found the body in the maternity ward, according to The New
York Daily News. The paper reports that Daniel Smith was seated in
a chair in his mother's maternity ward room in Doctors' Hospital in
Nassau when Anna Nicole Smith realized that she couldn't wake him.
Reginald Ferguson told the paper, "It would appear from our report that the
mother had gotten up, saw him in the chair and he appeared to be sound
asleep. She tried to wake him up, he was unresponsive, and she sounded
the alarm."
Interestingly, Anna Nicole Smith and her representatives have a
completely different timeline of events, releasing a statement that claims
that Daniel Smith was found in bed Sunday morning where he wasn't
breathing and that he had visited his mother and sister the night before,
but did not pass away at the hospital. A statement was released and
posted to Anna Nicole's website that read, in part, "Anna Nicole is
absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and
an amazing human being. We have yet to learn the cause of death, but do
not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor."
It was revealed on Tuesday that the death of Daniel
Smith was not seen as suspicious, according to police.
Ferguson is quoted by EOG as saying that "there
were no signs of violence to the body and there has
been no sign of any unusual activities in the room that
he was in." WENN reported that the death
was from a "massive heart attack" suffered
by Daniel Smith. Police Press Liaison Officer Inspector
Walter Evans confirmed the death saying that "This
morning a Caucasian male was discovered sometime after
9 a.m. The cause of death has not been determined and
an autopsy has to be performed. Once we would have (carried
out) an autopsy, (this) would confirm the exact cause
of death."
Daniel Smith's father appeared on Extra last
night and spoke about the shocking death of his son.
Billy Smith had not seen Daniel Smith since he was two,
but was still shocked to hear about his early passing.
He told Extra, "It's so sad. I hated that
it happened. He was so young. I'm sort of in shock right
now."
The entire posting on Anna Nicole Smith's website,
AnnaNicole.com, reads as follows, "On September
7th Anna Nicole gave birth to a healthy 6 pound, 9 ounce
baby girl. Her son Daniel was in the Bahamas with her
to share in the joy of his baby sister when he passed
away suddenly on the morning of September 10th. We have
yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that
drugs or alcohol were a factor. Anna Nicole is absolutely
devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride
and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make
any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole
can grieve in peace."
We at The Deadbolt send our sincerest condolences
to Anna Nicole Smith and her family regarding this tragic
loss.
