The wedding of the year between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is generating even more buzz, but it’s reported that Katie is experiencing pre-wedding jitters and has second thoughts about her commitment.
It looks like the time has come for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to finally tie the knot. The pair mentioned before the birth of their daughter, Suri in April that they would be exchanging vows sometime in the fall. Now that the big day is close at hand, the Batman Begins star appears to be having second thoughts. According to All Headline News Katie Holmes has confided to friends that she is worried about being known only as Tom Cruise’s wife and the mother of his child, which may overshadow her own film career. While staying at the Cruise family retreat in Colorado since the birth of Suri, Holmes “allegedly” revealed to a friend that she isn’t sure about marrying Tom anymore, apparently saying, “I don't have my own life any more. I'm not comfortable.” On the other side of the coin, Tom has been telling friends and family to be prepared for a wedding soon. Insiders have reported that the wedding will take place at either Scientology Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles or one of the couple’s homes.
Maybe it’s just a case of cold feet or nervousness on Katie’s part, or perhaps she really won’t go through with the wedding. Here’s some earth shattering news: maybe it’s all just wild tabloid fodder to sell magazines. Whatever the case may be, The Sunday Mirror reports that after the birth of Suri, Katie’s career has stalled and the actress is worried that it won’t get any better after the marriage. Apparently, a friend of theirs was quoted as saying, “The wedding dress is bought, Tom's two adopted kids from his marriage to Nicole Kidman will be there, but just where and when is up in the air. Katie is nervous about making a commitment to Tom and the early excitement of their love affair has worn off.”
It isn’t just the fear of commitment that seems to be an issue for Katie, as some sources claim that all scripts submitted to Katie are now looked over by Scientologists and that the starlett has been isolated for far too long. Although this outlet isn’t buying into unconfirmed rumors, it appears a friend was quoted to say, “Katie's been in the house for so long - usually only going out with Tom and a posse of handlers - that she has lost touch with the world.” Adding fuel to the tabloid saga, the other major issue concerning the upcoming nuputials is Katie’s father, Martin. After the birth of Suri, Martin allegedly had said that his Catholic family would not attend a Scientology wedding. A so-called friend had apparently said, “The relations between her dad and, Tom really upset her. Tom thinks her dad is always urging her to go against him, while her dad thinks Tom's a control freak - and even said he has her acting like some Stepford wife.”
27 year old Katie Holmes, star of such movies as Batman Begins, Thank You For Smoking and the TV series Dawson's Creek, has been taking time out of the public eye since having the couple's first child, Suri, back on April 18th. Holmes, once a devout Catholic, has converted to Cruise's religion of Scientology. While Katie Holmes is planning on going back to work, it's not known if that will happen before or after the couple's marriage.
Tom Cruise, on the other hand, is a devout Scientologist and has toplined such Hollywood blockbusters as War of the Worlds, Minority Report, Collateral, Jerry Maguire, War of the Worlds, The Last Samurai, Rain Man, Top Gun, A Few Good Men, and the Mission: Impossible trilogy. Cruise has been married twice before, the first to Mimi Rogers (Lost in Space, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery) and the second to Nicole Kidman (Cold Mountain, The Interpreter). Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman had adopted two children, Isabella and Connor, during their marriage. Cruise is also rumored to be going back to work in the role of Billy Fiske in the movie The Few, scheduled for release in 2008.
