Destiny's Child Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Despite the fact that Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are no longer together in Destiny's Child, their work together has been honored, as Destiny's Child garnered a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Destiny's Child started out as a duo, changed
into a quartet including LaTavia Roberson and LeToya
Luckett, and eventually became a trio, with Knowles,
Rowland and Williams being the most enduring and famous
members of the group. After selling 50 million albums
and singles, and having the World
Music Awards name them the best-selling pop group
ever, Destiny's Child announced on June 12th,
2005, after a show in Barcelona, Spain, that they would
be breaking up. The trio was re-united for today's ceremony
is Hollywood.

quoted Beyonce Knowles as saying "We started when
we were 9 years old, and here we are getting a Hollywood
star." Beyonce went on to say "Dreams come
true. So thank you all so much for supporting us."
The pouring rain could not dampen the girls' spirits.
Kelly Rowland, one of the two original members along
with Beyonce Knowles, said "I want to thank you
all for coming out here in this rain. We are humbled
to be here," according to Digital
Spy. The Destiny's Child star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame is the 2,035th star since the Walk of Fame
was started on Feb 9th, 1960, with Joanna Woodward getting
the first star. Destiny's Child's star comes
right after Jude Judith Sheindlin (Judge Judy).
Destiny's Child released their first album,
a self-titled offering, in February 1998, featuring
the singles "No, No, No" parts 1 and 2. Their follow-up
album, The Writing's On The Wall came out in
July 1999 having the hugely popular singles "Say My
Name", "Bug-a-boo" and "Bills, Bills, Bills". In May,
2001, the album Survivor came out, with three
girls on the cover instead of four. It was between these
two albums that LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett
had split from the band under stained circumstances,
and Michelle Williams came into the band.
Survivor featured "Independent Woman, Part 1",
which was the theme song for Charlie's Angels,
spent 11 weeks at the #1 spot in America. Survivor
also featured a title track, "Bootylicious" and "Nasty
Girl". The other albums put out after this include a
Christmas album and a Remix album.
As for solo careers, Michelle Williams starting singing
gospel music, and has sold more than 500,000 albums
on her own. Kelly Rowland released Simply Deep
to critical acclaim. Singles like "Stole", "Can't Nobody"
and "Dilemma", a collaboration with Nelly, added to
the success of her album. Rowland also made her feature
film debut in Freddy vs. Jason
As for Beyonce Knowles, she would start off by co-starring
with Mekhi Phifer (8 Mile) in MTV's Carmen:
A Hip Hopera. Afterwards, she would star next to
Mike Myers in Austin Powers in Goldmember. Musically,
she would put out Dangerously in Love, which
would sell 8 million albums on the strength of singles
like "Crazy in Love", "Baby Boy" and "Me, Myself and
I".
Beyonce Knowles is currently co-starring in The
Pink Panther with Steve Martin, and is filming Dreamgirls,
a movie about a singing group loosely based on The
Supremes, and has a cast including Jennifer Hudson,
Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy, and is directed by Bill
Condon.
