The rumor mill has been working overtime, churning out stories about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Rumors have been floated about the baby's sex, the baby's name, the attempts to induce labor, and the date of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding (See Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes to Marry This Summer).

First, the baby's name. Life Style Extra reports that "Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have decided on a name for their child. However, the couple won't reveal what they're going to call their first-born."

This leads into the second rumor, about the baby's gender. If the name has been picked out, then it would stand to reason they know if the baby is a boy or a girl. An article on All Headline News states em>"Cruise Promotes M:I-3 And Anticipates Birth Of His Daughter", which implies that someone has the inside scoop on TomKat's child. According to Digital Spy, "the couple have reportedly been seen buying items that would seem to suggest that the baby will be a girl. The pair were spotted buying $20,000's worth of baby goodies in LA's posh Petit Tresor boutique, including nursery rhyme wallpaper, a nappy bag, a stuffed elephant and a teddy, as well as lots of designer baby clothes."

According to Petit Tresor's owner, Samantha Winch "It's very easy to rack up an expensive bill, especially when you are excited like Katie is and it's your first baby". At least, that's what she told Access Hollywood.

The craziest of the rumors comes from several sources. It has been reported that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are trying to use an old myth about inducing labor through eating spicy foods. Inside Entertainment reports that "Katie Holmes is rumoured to be bingeing on spicy Indian food in order to induce her labour. Daddy-to-be Tom Cruise, is reportedly serving up a storm of hot curries to help the process along." These rumors were echoed by The Post Chronicle as they reported "In an effort to try and move the birth process along, and get Katie to give birth earlier, TomKat is stuffing her full of spicy foods, according to a published report. Indian food is apparently high on his list of priorities, as he serves up red curries to Holmes nightly."

As for their eventual marriage, Megastar Tom Cruise has announced to the world that he and fiancée Katie Holmes will wait until after she has given birth, and after the release of Mission: Impossible 3 to tie the knot. Cruise told the German publication Bild that he and Katie Holmes will wed in the coming months, although no date has yet been set. Tom Cruise was also on the German TV show Wetten Dass…(I'll Bet…) doing press for Mission: Impossible 3 when he said the same thing. He also said he had two pilots on standby, ready to fly him back home in case Katie Holmes should go into labor. CNN reported that Cruise said "If Katie calls, I'm gone."

USA Today reported that Cruise said "First the baby, then the film. 'Then, in summer, we want to get married. I won't let this woman get away."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been engaged since June 17, 2005.

Katie Holmes is expecting the couple's first child very soon. There has been growing debate over whether or not Holmes will abide by Tom Cruise's religion's rules while giving birth. Scientologists have been gathering outside Cruise and Holmes' home with six-foot tall birthing boards, reminding Katie to remain quiet during the delivery. One sign read "Be silent and make all physical movements slow and understandable," according to The New York Daily News. The same news source reports that Katie Holmes may have chosen to give birth at a nearby Catholic hospital, which contains a state-of-the-art maternity ward.

Mission: Impossible 3 is set to release on May 5th. Cruise hopes Mission: Impossible 3 can triplicate the success of its predecessors, with Mission: Impossible grossing roughly $180 million at the box office and Mission: Impossible 2 pulling in around $215 million. Cruise, who has been the star of many previous Hollywood blockbusters, including War of the Worlds, Minority Report, Collateral and Jerry Maguire, has been married twice before, to Mimi Rogers (Lost in Space, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery) and Nicole Kidman (Cold Mountain, The Interpreter). Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman had adopted two children, Isabella and Connor, during their marriage.
