Speculation has been swirling around the possibility of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie giving their baby a Namibian name, as well as having Jolie give birth to the child in the South African country.
Apparently, Samuel Sheefeni Nuuyoma, the governor of
the Namibian province where Pitt and Jolie are staying,
has confirmed that the couple will in fact have the
child in Namibia and choose a Nambian name. In a recent
article in People
Magazine, the Namibian government have made
every effort to keep the couple, along with Jolie's
two children Maddox and Zahara, comfortable and free
of the press by not allowing media to enter the country
without valid work permits. Nuuyoma revealed that he
wanted his guests to feel at home and free, plus added,
" Namibia is a country where everyone has the right
to freedom of movement, and they must not feel inhibited
when they visit this beautiful country of ours."
In a related article in The
New York Daily News, Brad Pitt and Angelina
Jolie are said to have spent much of the last two weeks
at Burning Shore Lodge in Langstrand, where the security
staff have sectioned off the garden to keep would-be
paparazzi away. The government has also given the A-list
movie couple's beefy bodyguards free reign of the area.
30 year old Angelina Jolie, star of such movies as
Mr. And Mrs. Smith, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Alexander,
has been in the public eye quite frequently as of late,
following her pairing up with Brad Pitt after his divorce
from Jennifer Aniston. With their first child together
on the way, Brad Pitt, 42, has been the star of such
hits as Fight Club, Troy, Ocean's Twelve, and is set
to star in the up-coming movie, The Assassination of
Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Angelina Jolie
is the daughter of actor Jon Voight, who has starred
in such hit films as Midnight Cowboy, Deliverance, Anaconda,
Pope John Paul II, and most recently Disney's Glory
Road, about legendary Texas Western basketball coach
Don Haskins, where Voight played controversial Kentucky
coach Adolph Rupp.
Angelina Jolie, the Academy Award winning actress who
has acted in movies such as Girl, Interrupted,
has recently adopted two boys. On March 10th, 2002,
Angelina adopted her first child, whose legal name now
is Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, when he was 7 months old.
Jolie met the child in a Cambodian orphanage while filming
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Then, on July 5th, 2005,
People Magazine reported that Angelina Jolie was attempting
to adopt an Ethiopian child that had been orphaned,
as her mother had died from AIDS. After a woman claiming
to be the baby's mother was proven not to be, Jolie
eventually gained custody of Zahara Marley Jolie. On
January 19th, 2006, both of Angelina Jolie's babies
were also adopted by Brad Pitt, giving the children
the surname Jolie-Pitt.
Angelina Jolie's adoption of children seems to have
sparked some popularity for adoption. Recently, pop
singer Jessica Simpson has stated that, based on Angelina's
successful adoptions, she, too, would like to adopt
a child (See Jessica
Simpson Considers Adoption).
