"Help Me!!!!" Long before Jeff Goldblum snapped off his own arm in the gory remake of The Fly, Vincent Price and David Hedison were bringing the terrifying tale to life and now the 1958 original, along with its two sequels - 1959's Return of the Fly and 1965's The Curse of the Fly - are available in one box set called The Fly Classic Collection. The four-disc box also includes a collection disc of horrors with information on all three films. The first Fly is still effective and well-made but the two sequels range from pretty bad to awful. This box is for hardcore Fly or Price fans only.

In 1997, A&E actually got Vincent Price to sit down for an interview for their Biography program and the entirety of it is included on the Fly Classic Collection "Disc of Horrors." A lot of the special features in the Collection seem kind of random and you have to wonder why not include the Biography segment, which is about more than just The Fly, in the recently-released Vincent Price Collection instead, but it's still a great interview with a Hollywood legend.

The Curse of the Fly itself. Seriously, Return of the Fly definitely has its problems, but the third film, which didn't even feature Vincent Price is a nightmare. Starring George Baker and Carole Gray, The Curse of the Fly is about a poor woman who marries the grandson of Andre (the original doctor from the first movie). Like grandfather, like grandson. It's a quickie sequel that makes the original look like a masterpiece.

Does everything need a Collection? Just because you made more than two, does it need a special disc and fancy box? It's hard to say. With the Fly series, really only the first one is worth your time and the special features disc seems random and a little unnecessary. Hardcore Fly fans will love it. Everyone else should stick to the remake.
