CBS has renewed The Amazing Race for a 20th season after it was confirmed this week by the network that Season 20 of The Amazing Race will hit the airwaves in the fall of 2012.

The new CBS announcement of Season 20 of The Amazing Race, hosted by Phil Keoghan, follows on the heels of the show’s 18th season called The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business, which brought back all-stars from previous seasons of The Amazing Race for a second shot at winning the million dollar prize. During the season finale, sisters LaKisha Hoffman and Jennifer Hoffman beat out Harlem Globetrotters Herb Lang and Nate Lofton to win the Race.

According to the official CBS announcement, “the last two editions of The Amazing Race averaged 11.19 million viewers, 3.4/09 in adults 18-49 and 4.4/10 in adults 25-54. The 19th installment of The Amazing Race will air this fall, Sundays (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Season 20 is scheduled for broadcast in spring 2012.”
