Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar to Open AFI Film Fest

Ahead of the 2011 AFI Film Festival, event organizers announced that the Clint Eastwood directed J. Edgar Hoover biopic will open the festival on November 3.

According to The Los Angeles Times, AFI Film Festival organizers revealed on Wednesday that J. Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will kick off the 25th anniversary of the AFI Film Festival.

J. Edgar has already started to generate early Oscar buzz and will head into limited release after the AFI Film Festival. J. Edgar was written by Oscar winning writer Dustin Lance Black, who won the award for Milk. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, alongside a cast that includes Armie Hammer, Judi Dench and Naomi Watts.
