Faust Wins Best Picture at Venice Film Festival

Director Alexander Sokurov’s Russian film called Faust was awarded Best Picture at the 2011 Venice Film Festival on Saturday when the final Golden Lion honors were handed out.

According to Reuters, Faust, directed by Alexander Sokurov, picked up the Best Picture Golden Lion at the 2011 Venice Film Festival on Saturday. Although Faust won Best Picture, Best director went to Shangjun Cai for People Mountain People Sea.

Other winners at the Venice Film Fest were director Emanuele Crialese, who won a special jury award for Terraferma, Best Actor Michael Fassbender for his role in Shame, and Al Pacino, who received a special lifetime achievement award.
