British singer Adele canceled her upcoming U.K. concerts until the end of 2011 in order to have throat surgery. Adele will also not make any more public appearances for the remainder of 2011 to allow her voice to heal after the surgery.
According to BBC Radio 1 Adele canceled all scheduled U.K. concerts for the rest of the year in order to undergo throat surgery to repair a hole in her vocal chord. The vocal chord damage sidelined Adele in June on her North American tour and also this month on rescheduled shows.
Ticket holders for the Adele shows in Wolverhampton, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Cardiff, and Plymouth will be issued a full refund.
Executives at XL Recordings issued a statement that detailed the medical situation with Adele for the rest of the year. “Doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”
Adele also posted an apology to fans on her official website. “I’ve been offered the chance to not tour at all to save anything like this from happening again,” wrote Adele, “but I simply hate letting you down.”
