Nickelback to Play Detroit Halftime as Planned

Although Detroit Lions fans objected to Nickelback playing the halftime show at the Thanksgiving game between the Lions and Green Bay Packers, the team confirmed that Nickelback will indeed perform as planned.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Nickelback will be the halftime entertainment for the Thanksgiving Day NFL game in Detroit despite the protests by some fans to have the band removed. It appears that some fans of the Detroit Lions felt that a local act should have been selected for the halftime given the city’s rich history of Motown.

As THR reports, the Detroit Lions organization listened to the fans but decided to stick with their original decision to have Nickelback play at halftime.

Despite the objections, Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger said that he and the band were honored to play for fans in Detroit. “We always love playing in Detroit,” said Kroeger, “our fans there have been tremendously supportive of us through the years.”
