Although British singer Adele will not attend at the 39th annual American Music Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles, due to her recovery from recent throat surgery, Adele still leads the AMA way with four nominations.

According to Reuters U.K., Adele will not be in attendance at the 39th annual American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. since the British singer is home in the U.K. recuperating from throat surgery. Adele was forced to cancel her remaining shows in the U.K. in order to have surgery to repair her vocals.

Riding a high from the success of her latest album called 21, Adele is nominated for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, and Favorite Album.

The 39th annual American Music Awards will air Sunday night on ABC at 8PM.
