New Year’s Eve Tops Weekend Box Office

The romantic comedy New Year’s Eve won its first weekend at the box office after the Gary Marshall directed holiday film earned $13.7 million.

According to Reuters, New Year’s Eve took the top spot at the weekend box office with $13.7 million in ticket sales. The ensemble romantic comedy, starring Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, and more, held on to win the weekend after taking top spot on Friday with $5.1 million.

The Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter followed in second place with $10 million in weekend ticket sales and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 in third with $7.9 million.
