In a newly released video of Wendy Williams from Monday’s episode of The Wendy Williams Show, Williams remembers her interactions with Whitney Houston and how the singer’s untimely death hit home given Williams’ past battle with substance abuse. As Wendy Williams reveals in the new video, the death of Whitney Houston conjured up memories of her own battle with crack 15 years ago and how she hoped to celebrate a victory with Whitney over addiction at some point in the future.

Despite only interviewing Whitney Houston once, Wendy Williams admits she had a strong connection to Whitney on a personal level beyond the entertainment world. Williams was shocked to learn of the passing of Whitney Houston like the rest of the world.
