New Ghost Hunters TAPS Transition with Jason Hawes

Jason Hawes and Ghost Hunters return to Syfy on September 5 as the TAPS team heads to South Carolina for their latest investigation below the Mason-Dixon.

After saying goodbye to investigator Grant Wilson in May, The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) is officially a team in transition. Although one key team member left the fold, the TAPS team welcomes a new investigator named Ashley.

When Ghost Hunters returns to continue its eight season, lead investigator Jason Hawes and the TAPS team head below the Mason-Dixon line for a block of “Southern Spirits”-themed episodes in Charleston, South Carolina – the winning location of Ghost Hunters’ America’s Hometown Ghost Hunt contest.

So, how tough was it for Jason to adapt to life on the show without Grant? As Hawes told The Deadbolt, their relationship as friends made it fairly easy.

“Honestly, it wasn’t that tough at all,” said Hawes of his former ghost hunting partner, “because I still deal with Grant daily on other things and he’s still there. He had to take a leave of absence from the show, but our families are extremely tight and we’re like brothers.”

Although Jason has been investigating a new season of spirits without Grant by his side, Hawes also revealed that the transition was somewhat seamless since he used to fly solo.

“For many years, I investigated without Grant being there. For many years of our friendship while TAPS was still going, still is, Grant left to go to Utah. He was gone for a couple years on that. It’s a little odd not having a guy I refer to as my brother standing beside me all the time, but I think it wasn’t an issue for me at all.”

With a new member about to join TAPS, how does Jason feel about the chemsitry within the Ghost Hunters team?

“To be honest with you, the team, there’s just a new energy with the entire team. Everybody’s just so alive lately. It’s been interesting.”

Ghost Hunters returns September 5 at 9/8c on Syfy.
