Universal Pictures released a new extended featurette for Les Miserables that gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at director Tom Hooper’s modern musical adaptation of the classic French novel by Victor Hugo.

In the newly released extended clip for Les Miserables, stars Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and director Tom Hooper talk about the magic within the story and what it takes to bring a musical to life as a movie. Interestingly, Hugh Jackman reenacts one of the Les Mis scenes and how he was able to effectively work with the music. As well, fans get an early listen to Anne Hathaway as she performs for the upcoming musical.

Affectionately known as Les Mis, the film stars Hollywood heavyweights Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. Jackman plays former prisoner Jean Valjean who was been hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he broke parole. Valjean agrees to care for Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, which changes their lives and of those around them, forever.

Les Miserables will now be released on Christmas Day.
