Taylor Swift is now confirmed to play rock-folk legend Joni Mitchell in Girls Like Us, the film adaptation of author Sheila Weller’s novel of the same name.

As revealed by Variety, Taylor Swift will step into the shoes of Joni Mitchell for Girls Like Us, which tells the stories of singers Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King.

Girls Like Us follows the lives of Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, and Carole King, three of the most influential females in music throughout the 1960s and 1970s, through their early formative years in different neighborhoods to the top of the music industry.

As reported, Allison Williams of HBO’s Girls is in contention for the role of Carly Simon but has serious competition from other names that include Mad Men’s Jessica Pare and model-turned-actress Analeigh Tipton.

Although no actress has been named to play Carole King, Alison Pill, Zoe Kazan, and Ari Graynor have come up as possible casting choices.
