Beyonce confirmed that she will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII

Beyonce confirmed that she will headline the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show as the main musical act at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans .

Super Bowl XLVII got a major boost of star power on Tuesday now that Beyoncé will appear as the halftime show’s main performer, according to Beyonce herself who posted on her blog following a story by the Associated Press.

The news of Beyonce as this year’s Super Bowl entertainment broke on Tuesday after an AP story indicated from an anonymous source that an official announcement could come as early as Wednesday morning.

Super Bowl XLVII will mark Beyonce’s first time as a headline performer at halftime. In 2004, Beyoncé performed the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in Houston.

Last year, Madonna hit the Super Bowl stage with guests CeeLo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A.

Super Bowl XLVII is scheduled for Sunday, February 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

At this point, there’s no word on who may join Beyoncé on stage for the Super Bowl show. Who wouldn’t love to see Beyonce sing a duet with husband Jay-Z?
