PSY and ‘Gangnam Style’ Take YouTube Title from Justin Bieber

The PSY hit “Gangnam Style” has surpassed Justin Bieber’s “Baby” on YouTube as the most-watched and liked video of all time with over 803,761,000 views.

Since PSY released “Gangnam Style” on YouTube back on July 15, 2012, the Korean pop song has logged 803,761,000 views to beat Justin Bieber and his video for “Baby” at 803,732,000 views.

Although “Baby” was released on YouTube in February 2010, it only took PSY five months to to surpass Bieber with 803 million views.

“Gangnam Style” also set another record as the most approved video on YouTube with 5.3 million likes and 323,000 dislikes as compared to the 1.4 million likes and 3.1 million dislikes for “Baby.”

Ever since the release of “Gangnam Style,” PSY has taken the United States by storm. In recent months and weeks, a slew of celebrities have appeared with the red hot PSY to dance “Gangnam Style,” including Madonna, Heidi Klum, Ellen Degeneres, Britney Spears and more.

However, the most memorable performance of the K-Pop hit came this past week at the American Music Awards when PSY was joined by MC Hammer for a mash-up of “Gangnam Style” and Hammer’s “Too Legit to Quit.” To date on YouTube, combined views of the PSY and Hammer mash-up make for over 10 million views.

Following the YouTube milestone, PSY celebrated with fans on Twitter. “#GangnamStyle just became the most watched video @YouTube!! #History,” tweeted the K-Pop sensation.
