Girls’ Generation topped the digital sales charts with “I Got a Boy”

The South Korean girl group Girls’ Generation topped the digital music charts with “I Got a Boy” to start 2013 and the new year of with a K-Pop bang!

Following the New Year’s Day release of “I Got a Boy”, the new Girl’s Generation’s single had a huge surge in sales on the iTunes Best-Selling Album Chart where it entered the Top 20 within 24 hours and amassed 3.5 million views.

“It is a different song compared to the basic style that Girls’ Generation usually has shown,” said SM Entertainment, the K-Pop group’s management team. “It’s a song that feels like a new challenge, and the song contains many musical styles and tempo changes. The addicting melody in the chorus is very memorable.”

Girls’ Generation collaborated with a variety respected musicians and producers, including the European production team Dsign Music, British popstar Pixie Lott, Joe Belmaati, Yoo Youngjin, Park Changhyun, and various K-pop artists.

One of the most successful female Korean girl groups of all time, Girls’ Generation has 4.4 million albums sold and 30 million digital downloads to date.

Just before the holidays, Girls’ Generation premiered their retro-centric video for “Dancing Queen”, a catchy remake of the Duffy smash single “Mercy”
