Serena Williams Withdraws From Australian Open

On Thursday, Serena Williams announced over Snapchat that she withdrew from the Australian Open set to take place later this month.

The tennis star recently competed in her first match since giving birth to her daughter, Alexis, and doesn’t feel fit enough to compete in Australia.

Serena is a 23-time Grand Slam winner and reigning champion of the Australian Open after she defeated her sister Venus in last year’s final.

She explained that she’s “super close” to where she wants to be on the court, but the Australian Open will have to wait until 2019.
